i got drawn for wenaha and i was just wondering would yo guys go in the middle of may or wait until like the first week of june? last year went in the middle of may and didnt see one bear and not that much vegetation.

bears will be out in mid May this year over there undoubtedly. If you're limited on time, later is always better but more chance of hide damage.

The snow is melted off up to 4500ft. In most of the blues, according to the bio i talked to today.  You could probably make it in early through troy.  I would wait until the end of may,  first of june.  Elk calving season will be going on then and from all the research ive done, and a distressed calf is like a dinner bell to them.  Also the bio said the third week of may they did a few hour fly over of the wenaha and saw 34 bears, feeding on some sort of moss or liken in the rocks, probably to jumpstart their digestive system.  Just food for thought.  Good luck and happy trails however long and steep they may be.- Dutchie
