So I got my LR308 back from the gunsmith yesterday. Had the 24" bbl shortened to 20", a JP large profile brake installed and that bright chrome barrel moly-coated black. Barrel/chamber were lapped to clean up any tool marks. Had all the tolerances checked and trued up in the gas system as well.
This thing shoots much better now, and with the brake you can spot your own shots and watch your own vapor trails. There is almost no recoil at all now... Probably right around a 223, if not less. This thing shoots lights out now. Below is a target that is 10rds at 200yds. It measured just over 1/2in in a variable cross wind averaging at ~6mph. Couldn't be happier with the rifle and how it shoots now.
Still have some things to do. Because of the non-standarization of the large frame AR, handguards can be hit or miss. So it's going back to get the handguard machined on a CNC machine to lighten it up, and allow for better air flow and get a nice custom look to it. Also going to add a JP captive spring recoil buffer to get rid of the cheese grater twang. Also have an AAC 762-SDN suppressor waiting for approval.
Here is a list for it for what's gone into it:
Leupold MK4 6.5-20x56, 4" Sunshade and alumina caps.
Leupold MK4 AR Base
Leupold MK4 single piece rings.
Timney single stage skeletonized 3lb trigger
Magpul PRS Stock
Accushot monopod
Harris BRM 6-9" Bipod
Ergo DLX palm shelf grip
Ambidextrous charging handle latch

I believe that comment was for hammer.

That's an awesome build!
I'll vouch for the JP break, it will take a .223 to about 22mag recoil, and I would definitely recommend the JP captured spring, it makes the whole system smoother.

Somewhere between a lot and a cubic butt ton... Actually its just north of ~$5000
Smokn 200 yard group for a gas gun!
Love my gasser... Can put down nice groups just as good most bolt guns...

It's great when one comes together like that, well done. 8)

Best of both worlds there. Great looking rifle and she shoots

Nice looking gun, and nice groups too! My lr shoots the a cheap selected surplus load at an inch at 100, and an inch at 250. Cant get the 100 group to shrink, but am more than happy with its accuracy. Plenty for what it is used for!

I've been wanting to build that exact same gun for a few gun for a few years none.......not cool man >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( :chuckle:
That thing is the sheet

That's super nice! Both of my LR260s shoot just like that, incredibly accurate and FAST.
