Ever leave sheds behind? :dunno:
I am by no means a shed expert. Usually I do a bit of shedding/scouting ( REAL heavy on the scouting :chuckle: ) for Blackies in late winter/early spring. And hunt elk sheds as well. This is the bulk of my "shed hunting". Mostly I enjoy getting out, putting miles on and enjoying the spring weather. Some years I get "the bug" and make it a higher priority than others.
Seeing some of the pics and posts on here it is obvious some of you guys ROCK the shed hunting. Very cool 8) I have always kept every shed I found, regardless of age/condition. But found a couple the last few times I was out, and if it hadnt been for the urging of my buddy would have left them. Is this normal? Do you guys leave some behind, that are either too damaged, old, or cuz its been there for a long time undiscovered?

If its hard white I'll keep it, but if its a garbage horn I leave it where it was.

I bring the oldies home for yard art....
-
I bring them all home regardless of condition. The ones that are chewed up, chalky or whatever I just cut them up & let the Dogs have them.
-
I only bring out brown and hard whites anymore. Chalkers and badly chewed stuff stays in the brush.

Take em all!!!! If you dont someone else will! :chuckle:

devinshoe did you throw out a big white whitetail shed behind the rest area between ellensburg and vantage? I found a 65+ inch whitetail shed there a few years ago and always thought how the heck did it get there.

That's why you take your kids with you... They get the *censored*ty ones and you get the good ones. Its not like they are going to tell you they don't want them.. hahaha

Only two sheds I found this year I left behind, one chewed up beyond being useful for anything, and the other was chewed in half almost, plus so sun dried and cracked it would just crumble apart. I just put it back in the log exactly as I found it, kind of a cool atl. Most whites end up as yard ornaments, just put more out as the neighborhood dogs run off with them.

That is a neat ATL
Heres a pic of the one I was going to leave..... It actually did look good in some of the wifes landscaping...

I leave them there the just become garage clutter in the end
