Title: 308 bullet selection for coyote
Post by: dasbear on October 05, 2008, 02:26:30 PM
Can anyone recommend a 308 bullet to use in my semi auto that wont tear the critter in half or leave them running like when I shot 2 with FMJ's? Would regular hunting bullets perform or will they go right through like fmj's because of the thin skin

I would look a nosler ballistic tip. If you dont hit a major bone it shouldnt rip a coyote in half. If you hit a major bone then I would even bother going and looking at it.
I shot a coyote at 160yd with a 338win shooting a 180gr nosler and hit the shoulder, lets just say it wasnt pretty and it did a nice flip though the air. I shot another and it just made a nice little hole in and out DRT.
