Since antlerless archery is open again in the two units who's going back? I hunted it the last year it was open saw a ton of elk had a good hunt then it turned into spike only. Decisions decisions.
-
Hmmmmm
-
I know.
-
Will be hunting it with 4 other buddies, should be a good hunt.
-
Scouting this summer will key on our decision.
-
The Nile was lights out for the late hunt last year. Never seen so many Elk.
Couldent get out for the early season.
Our little area in the Bumping has always been good to. Just dont hunt Spike only areas so its been a couple years.
Will be in one or the other though...
-
Nile is where I will be.
-
are the regs out ??
-
are the regs out ??
No, but its a done deal.
-
Still going to be in Rimrock. Although I do have a honey hole in the Nile that has me pondering it.
-
-
If I don't draw a Little Naches bull tag I'll be at the Nile.
-
I guess draw results will determine where most will be hunting.
-
I could hardly believe the numbers of cows i got into the middle last year in the nile unit. Lots in bumping the year before as well. Its going to be an awesome season there!
-
One word.. Crowded! Expect to see a ton of hunters. I never stopped hunting it and will be back again. Almost closed the deal on a spike in 2010 and 2011 but man is that a tough hunt. Spike only with a bow that is.
-
Pressure shouldn't be any more than usual.
-
It will. They closed little Naches again. It was a zoo in 2009 and will be again. 7 miles in and you couldn't get away from people.
-
Sure will make that Peaches Ridge archery bull permit a lot more desirable.
-
I must have missed it - is there a link to proposed (but done deal) rule changes for 2013?

-
I will probably be there or Rimrock :dunno:
Would rather hunt LN but sense its closed, I wont be. Unless I draw a tag
-
I bet it will be a zoo because everyone will think it will be a good year. Ill stick to my honey hole away from the mass of people.
-
I'll be there. Either one I like a lot.
-
Hunt along the little naches river west of hwy 410 in the bumping unit. With spike or cow this should be a fairly easy hunt!
-
As of now I plan on heading to the Bumping, this will be my last year to hunt elk for awhile (getting stationed in Missouri next year), so I would really like to put a tag on one, I don't know much about the area, or elk hunting either, but I'm going to spend as much time as I can scouting and do my best to seal the deal.
-
Hmmmm x2
-
I'll be in Bumping. Filled my cow tag there this last year.
-
I think I'm going to brave the masses and bowhunt the Bumping this year. Getting stationed here a 1-1/2 year ago, this is my second elk season, and of course my first one in that GMU. Once my kids are out of school next week, we're going camping at Bumping Lake, plan is to beging to familiarize myself with the area and start my scouting process. Not looking for any "honey-holes" but if I could get a steer in at least a decent direction, I'd appreciate it.

If your looking somewhere you can drive to and hunt from check out Timber wolf MT. or Cache Prairie. If your looking for somewhere to hike into, check out Indian creek meadows. Good Look
-
Gonna be a slam dunk in B & N this year.
-
It is never a slam dunk and it is going to be CROWDED! If you haven't hunted the bumping in the rain then you are in for a treat!

Timber Wolf and Cache get pretty hammered with guys...I would hike into the unit somwhere else.. :twocents:
-
Most of the unit gets pressure. I have been hunting it since 2002. Expect neighbors. :twocents:
-
Im cool with antlerless. As long as I can eat it and put whats left in my freezer.
-
Both good units and I've run into less people in bumping than nile. Just got to go the extra mile and then just a little more and just when you think you're there go a little more. :chuckle:
-
pretty tempting. I want to hunt the wetside but sounds like maybe its worth it?
-
We have a group of three that will be hunting the nile this year
-
Nile a slam dunk????? Are you crazy??? NOTHING about elk hunting is ever a slam dunk and espeically the Nile unit. My dad and all my 3 brothers, grandpa and uncle have hunted the nile unit (late season) for over a decade and it has gotten worse every year.
One season my dad and brother drew the bull tag and didnt even see a bull and only seen 3 or 4 cows in the entire 2 weeks.
-
Like I said... It will be crowded this year due to the fact that it has been closed for three years and everyone forgot how tough it actually is. It doesn't take many guys to have them running scared and the bulls mute.

The crowds don't seem to affect you much, it seems you are pretty successful regardless...
-
From what I saw last year in nile its going to be high success season for the cows.
Cant hardly wait.
-
the bumping wont be crowded. it is a big unit and there is plenty of room for everyone. hell, I have never seen anyone where I have hunted before.
one word..............Muckleshoot tribe. Enjoy!

Here is another word for you WILDERNESS, Indians don't get off the road and we all know what the bumping unit is lacking. Plus you more than likely aren't going to see natives out while general seasons are going.
-
And another word for you Muckleshoot tribe two words. :chuckle:

Look at the success rate for the 50 cow tags they gave out last year. It is not a slam dunk.

I got my cow there last year. Drew a quality bull archery this year :yike:
-
is it legal to hunt on the other side of the river from pleasant valley campground?

Good for you. You were one of six. I personally know one other. Here is a link to the harvest reports.

And congrats on your bull tag.

Should be fine... The highway separates the bumping unit from the little naches.

Didn't see any hunters where I was. I'm hoping that holds up for this next season, though less likely to happen that way.
-
Yep, will be there hunting the Nile area with my buddy Colby.

Not likely given it was limited entry vs. OTC this year. There is plenty of competition when cows are open.
