Where you at? I got out opening day, numbers were good, shot a box of shells. Didn't go down low for quail, stayed up high for chuk's. Friend and his son went in the columbia basin today, he said the numbers were good as well.

Went fishing with my daughter Monday.  The fishing was less than stellar so we decided to take a short walk and see if we could find a deaf and dumb quail.  No quail but in 1/2 mile we kicked up around 15 pheasants all but two were roosters.  Kind of looking forward to later this month!

This will be my first year hunting pheasant in WA but I've hunted them in California and SE Idaho and I've never seen anything like it.

picked these up yesterday, no coveys up high all day, had to sidestep all day at mid elevation. Saw 5 mulies, 2 were bucks. Saw 2 guys glassing from a cliff, with a buck and 2 does directly below them. I don't think they could see them... or maybe they wanted a bigger buck.

My buddy and I went out on opening day and hiked our a$$es off in the yakima canyon looking for chukar.  Didn't see a single one but killed a rabbit.

The next day we went to the reservation and jumped into a ton of quail.  That was a lot of fun but we only ended up with 2.  We are still getting used to how the quail use the dense cover.  It also didn't make it easier that we were without a bird dog.

Hit the Res up for quail/pheasant on Sunday the 12th. Birds were few and far between, especially for guys w/o a dog. We ended up going down by the Yak on State ground and got into three small covies, missing all of them.

yeah it seemed like there was a very poor hatch for pheasants and quail on the yakima res this year.    :'(
