Hey all just getting a jump on posting our next shoot. This is our biggest shoot of the year. Hope to see you there.
-
I have tried to rotate it correctly but it doesn't seem to want co cooperate.
-
I think we are going to be camping at stadaline ORV park that weekend for Dino Days. I hope the calendar in my head is wrong.
-
Yea, hope you and the Toso clan can make it.
-
I hope to make it as well.
-
If you are coming from a distance their is camping available. Camping is available on first come first serve. I do believe there are about 10 or so water/elect hook ups. There is all sort of dry/ tent spaces available. Their is a fee of $7 for dry camp and $12 water/ electric. We also have a septic dump on site.
-
Is there a class for infant baby's? Or is it just cub?
-
I tell you what, if you and Megan come out and shoot and bring a little one, I will make sure that the little one gets a trophy or medallion just for showing up.
-
Ha ha OK I will try to she if she wants to go but the baby with only be a few weeks old.
-
Im all for getting the youngsters started early but only a few weeks old may be pushing it.
-
Ya I agree. Maybe the next shoot or something.
-
Just printed the flyer. Sounds like a fun shoot.
-
Yea, we are planning on it. Should be having some fun shots , along with some novilty shots its usually our biggest shoot of the year so we are going to do our best to make it that. Don't forget about the camping if your from out of town.why burn the money in gas when you can stay with a bunch if buddies and make a camping trip out of it. We live in puyallup but it gives us another reason to use the trailer and get away from the house. We will be taking our trailer over on Thursday and doing the majority of the set up on Friday. If anyone wants to come in on Friday that's also fine.
-
Well now I know I dont get to go just got a job on a cruise boat so I will be back here in Alaska at that time! :bash: :bash:
-
I'll be there.
-
I'll be there. The last shoot was a blast even in the rain. It should be three of us this time. :chuckle:
-
I am going to try and go. Sounds like a blast.
-
Turned your pic....
-
Thanks
-
Iron Amos trophies are done.
-
You didn't put my name on it. I must be getting second.:))
-
You having a boy or girl
-
Don't know until the baby is here. Which is any day now.
-
21 days till the fun begins. Remember camping is available both tent camping and rv/trailer with elect/ water hook ups(first come first serve in these)there is a non member fee of $7 tent, $12 hook up.
-
Is sunday flighted? Or can I shoot with my Hubby so I can tell him the range? :hello:
And what's the first place trophy look like? :P
-
I'll be there. The last Frozen Fletch was my first shoot and I had a blast. Looking forward to this one. I will be using my hunting setup. Will a Doinker Tactical stabilizer take me out of the Hunter class?
-
If it is under 12inch then your ok.
-
Those trophies look pretty cool.
Question on Sunday. Will a group of friends be able to shoot together both days?
-
This is a question that comes up at every shoot and although we realise most guys and gals would like to shoot with their buddies both days this isnt the case due to the flighting process. There are 2 exceptions that we at the club have come up with to address this issue.#1 we do make the exception for the family that has cubs and peewee's shooting. They can split up if the would like or stay together and shoot and still qualify for trophies. #2 at the shooters meeting on sunday and group names are called out people who would like to shoot together as a buddy group can come forward and tell the person calling names that they would like to shoot with their own group this is perfectly fine but those that choose this option will be unelligable to receive a trophy. Also if the names are called and everyone goes to the assigned starting target and at the shotgun start they are not shooting with their assigned group then that person will also be unelligable to receive a trophy as we do not know if they opted to shoot with a friend group. This has always been an issue at shoots and to make it fair to the shooters who are flighted and shoot with their flighted groups this is what the archery committee has come up with yo make it as fair as possible. With that said,we hope this goes not discourages anyone from coming out and enjoy a good day of shooting . Hope to see you there.
-
I like the plan set forth! as long as i can shoot with my little man thats all care about. For people that are worried about shooting with people you dont know you are flighted in groups of people that shot the same as you. In your group (normally about 4 people) the people you shoot with shot almost the exact same score as you the day before. Its a great way to meet new people, get some tips, and have fun. Dont let splitting your group up make you stay home.
-
I have meet a lot of really cool guys and gals and shared some good stories and shooting tips. I like being flighted. You won't be nervous after your first shoot.

:yeah:

Well, we have decided to put on a coon shoot Saturday night at the Iron Amos. $5 buy in , 100% payout. 1st-50%, 2nd- 30%, 3rd-20%. So if you are coming from any distance, we have more than enough camping area available both tent spots and rv/trailer electric/water hook ups (first come first serve), we also have a septic dump station. Tent spots are $7, hookup spots are $12. If your coming from any distance save some gas and stay the night, then enjoy a fun evening shooting in the dark. Hope to see you there.
-
That's sounds fun! I did it once at Bownaza it was a blast! Have to dig out the lighted nocks for this one.:))
-
Maybe I will come stay the night.
-
Bowpredator,
Explain the format for the coon shoot.
-
This shoot sounds like it will be a lot of fun! I hope to be driving up Friday night and staying through Sunday
-
I mayyy have to finally make an appearance at this one.. Met some cool guys down there when doing my hunting class.

Give it a shot. The Frozen Fletch they had in January was my first 3d shoot and I had a blast. You will have a good time.
-
A coon shoot is a night shoot, usually 10 targets. There is some one running the group and also handles the flash light. The shooting marks are layed out before hand that way if there is more than 1 group they all shoot from the same spot. The shooter stands at the stake and the flashlight holder will shine the target for 15-20 seconds so the shooter can get an idea where and what they want to shoot for. The flashlight person will then stop shinning the target and ask if shooter is ready. Once shooter says yes, the flashlight comes back on and the shooter can tell the flashlight holder to move the light to where they see their sights and target the best. The shooter has about 30 seconds to shoot. After everyone shoots that target, they walk up and score and pull arrows. Scoring is done the same as shooting a 3-d shoot, x's are 11, 10,8,5.Pretty easy and a lot of fun.

Good news, for those of you that are going to camp at the club for the Iron Amos, I just found out that there is "NO CHARGE " for camping if you are shooting the shoot. And that is more off a reason to come and stay at the shoot and do the "COON SHOOT" Saturday night.
-
Thats a great way to get people to the coon shoot. I am totally bummed I wont be there. The old man might take Hayden if im still out of town. So watch out Rodger he shooting with a release and sight and he is all about hitting the "Dead X Ring"
-
Nice, hope they can make it.Hopefully they can be at the awards as we have a ton of door prizes lined up, and Hayden always cleans up on those. Some of the sponsors are Cabelas, Sportco, Sportsmens Warehouse (Puyallup, Federalway) Les Schwab on Canyon Rd to name a few.
-
T -8 days till Iron Amos. 2 great days of shooting with a coon shoot Saturday night. Lots of door prizes and novelty shoots. FREE camping. Hope yo see you there.
-
Well we figured since that all you great archers in the area are going to be coming to the Iron Amos June 8/9 at the Tacoma Sportsmens Club we figured you might build up a little appetite on the course so we got the best BBQ in town, BIG PAPPA BILLS BBQ to come out for Saturday and serve up what he does best. Can you say pulled pork sandwich.
-
Wow now u got me thinking of camping for the weekend and I only live 10 mins away.
-
I know right! We live 5 miles away but will be setting up our trailer.
-
Pulled Pork - Can you say 'full belly' and 'need a nap'.
-
Hey Rodger there is a chance Hayden wont be able to shoot on Saturday. He will be there on Sunday my question to you is will he be able to shoot for awards? If not I understand but as he is a cub I thought I would throw it out there and ask the question. Thanks,
Joel
-
Yea. Pee wee's and cubs all get awards
-
T -5 days till the fun begins.
-
Would we be able to shoot sunday if we didnt shoot saturday? We wont be shooting for awards we just want to shoot in our group for fun.
-
Yep, just let them know at registration that you did not shoot on Saturday. Make sure you turn in your score card and stay for awards because we have a lot of door prizes to give away and anyone who turns in a score card has a chance to win.
-
Great! Thanks. :)
-
I should really stay home and work on GFSC range but I'll most likely say the hell with it and go shoot.
-
Hey D, I hope you make it down, we have another piece of steel art work with your name on it. A nice elk in the mountains scene. It will be a raffle item.
-
Just got my confermation for travel and I will see you all on Sunday. Cant make it Saturday but will be shooting for fun, pray this weather stays.
-
I already have one above my mantle.
-
No way, that metal art is mine this time :chuckle: Guess I'll just have to buy more tickets this time.
-
You better buy lots because this is probably the biggest tsc shoot of the year. Should be a ton of tickets sold.
-
Joel, glad to hear you can make it to shoot with Hayden . Yep, this is our biggest shoot of the year, hoping for a great turn out.
-
The forcast is calling for perfect weather 67-73* dry, cool in the morning and sun in the afternoon. Sounds like a shorts wearing weekend.
-
I'll be out there with my son and hopefully my daughter will join us. She's just started shooting traditional and this is so much more fun than standing at the range.
-
Yep, shooting 3-D's is a lot more fun than the flat range.
-
Big Pappa Bills BBQ... I'M IN!!!
But with the coon shoot... I better go get some more arrows :chuckle:
-
2 days and counting. Things are coming together nicely. Hope to see you there.
-
Doesn't look like I'm going to make it down this weekend for the shoot :bash:

Well that sucks.
-

I dont blame you, its hard to pass up some good ling fishing. Looks like that metal art work with your name on it will have to go to someone else.
-
I went Saturday. I was alone so I did the quick run through. if any of you on here let me pass thanks again. and of course donated 1 arrow to the metal target. Good Fun
-
Best run and most fun 3D I've shot. A big "Way to Go" to all that helped put it on. Very organized and obviously lots of time and effort put into this shoot. Also, I shot with two great groups of folks both days.
-
Awesome shoot. We had a great time. Loved the mid point snack shack. Good job on mixing up the range on the targets, it really added to the challenge. The alligator in the pond and the moving targets were really fun. The first day I shot with my son and the second day we were split up. Met some really great people that way. The prizes were cool too. We picked up a six pack of XT's and a few other goodies. Big thanks to TSC for putting on a great event.
-
This was a great shoot! In fact for me, it was the best one I have been to! We spent the weekend camping and shooting and just had a great time. We also took part in the coon shoot which was a lot of fun!
I will be putting this one on the calendar and plan to be back!
-
I only shot on Saturday and what a blast, I will absolutely be there both days next time and the camper will be coming with me. I didn't lose a single arrow which was great for me, I even shot at the iron pig, you need a heart shot or your arrow is toast! Great time, they did a awesome job on the 40 targets.
-
Sounds like a great shoot.
