what call do you guys use to bring them in closer?i cant afford a decoy till next week.
i believe it was the cut that brought em in but i am new to all this and was using everything i know.

this turkey huntin is brand new to me,and they are driving me nuts.
i was using the yelp also shortly before i saw em,so that leads me to believe thats what was bringin em in.

went out yesterday after work.found a nice spot n tucked in and started calling with my new box call.had a turkey come in to 158 yards and hang up for a bit n then run off,n had one hang up in the trees.it was awesome to see it work a little

I would say because he was moving around too much.
was your hands visable? Were they gloved? ungloved hands working a box call are like flags.

Get in some thicker stuff as mentioned, and be sure to use a facemask and gloves as the next post said.

it very well could have been my hands.i cant shoot my bow worth a crap with gloves.i used camo paint on em today n put the turks to roost back behind my house.ill be painted up in the am n will have my tags on a nice tom bright and early if i dont screw it upwent out yesterday after work.found a nice spot n tucked in and started calling with my new box call.had a turkey come in to 158 yards and hang up for a bit n then run off,n had one hang up in the trees.it was awesome to see it work a little

i went out this am and those turkeys went the wrong way from their roost.then i went to another permission i have n found a tom struttin but got busted again.
this turkey huntin is really starting to frustrate me.but i am enjoyin time in the woods.

Target shoot with your glove, you may have to adjust the tightness so your draw length stays the same with the glove. Otherwise, just roll the cuff forward and put it on as usual.

Gloves shouldn't affect your ability to shoot. If it does, you have some issues with mechanics/grip. :twocents:lol.i bet.

that was exciting as all hell.i am having a blast.
i got out of there pronto n they still had a half hour of light left.they have been roosting by there for over a week.did i spoil that spot?

Uughh! Every time I see a new post by you I think there will be a picture there..... :chuckle:well i called one in last night n put a shuttle t right through him.he flew off n i couldnt find him today or last night.

my arrow blew through him n burried in the gravel pretty deep.so i dug out some lighter arrows today n turned down my bow to 55 lbs.i think 475 grains n 7o lbs is a little much for turkeys.i also screwed on my grizz tricks for a little more cutting diameter n adjusted my pins.
if my ordeal last night did not scare the rest out of the area i believe i am better prepared for them this evening.
that there must be like a queen turkey.i have yet to call one of them in

Sounds like you might have hit a bit low through the breast w/o any vitals. Both birds I've gotten with the bow went right down, one was trying to fly but had a broken wing to go with his internal injuries and the other had a broken hip and wing and basically fell on his face after the shot. Both shots were pass thru so I wouldn't have worried about having too much energy.i think you may be right on where i hit.i was leading him due to him walking in.it was 30 yards on the dot when he walked in.i had my decoys at 20 yards n i think he would have come all the way to them,but i fealt really good of the shot.

i play it over and over in my head.i dont think i needed to lead him at all,i think i coulda waited 60 more seconds n made a 25 yard shot or 20.idk i know i am screwin up,and i appreciate all of your advice.
they have fled my property for the time being.i could not get a peep out of em last night.

Everyone of us "screw up" ... even the pros on TV ... that eventually makes us better at harvesting thunderchickens ... it's a learning process we all go thru ... heck they are still teaching me "lessons" every year. Just go out and have fun in god's great outdoor church and harvesting birds will take care of itself. You'll then realize the pursuit (especially when with friends and family) means more than the harvest.i really enjoy interacting with my envirnment.n as you stated its that much better with loved ones.im sure i will harvest a bird.i just hate when my lack of skills result in wounded game
