Anyone else notice how much they increased the cow tags for clockum this year? Last year was 50 for eastern archery, this year its 140....not including all the tags for modern firearm....
Just an interesting side note....
-
They are letting us hunters harvest some before all the wolves eat them.
-
I'll be putting in.
-
I am putting in as well since its a short jump over the mountain for me.
-
I drew it last year (got one), and will put in again this year....just seemed like a large increase to me. I know the bull/cow ratio is crazy off over there....maybe they will adjust it again next year.
-
Who knows. What unit did you shoot your cow in?
-
Big increase over the first 50 last year, I'll put in for that cow permit! Not my first choice in my hunt, but worth the tag.
-
WDFW think Increase Clockum Cow tags is a great idea, They encourage More hunters the better to spread around Clockum unit to get good shot at Wolves.. (cough) I mean Cow tag

Good point

With all the bulls killed after hunting season it has put the bull/cow ratio out of whack, they need to reduce the cow numbers to balance it back out.

EXACTLY, no one is addressing the REAL issue.

:yeah: Chalk up another *censored* move by WDFW.
-
ya is that the reason. cause there are not many bulls and so many cows? If they have more cows taken and that makes the cow to bull ratio look better then they can say they have done there job?? Only 2 bull archery tags.. :bash: :bash: GOOD LORD!! I am glad that there are more cow permits and yes I will be entering but what only 4 permits for bulls in all categories. FRUSTRATION

We all know what the #1 problem is. Im just waiting to see who says it. Ive lived here and know what it is because I see it happen. Truck loads taken out!

:yeah: winner. Terrific elk habitat, minuscule tag number, yet no bulls. Hum?

That and the reduced the number of "quality" any bull tags by over 66% this year, and even more from 2 years ago since they added the teanaway unit in the Colockum any bull pot last year
And HERE is why!

At least NO ONE from WDFW or any other state agency

At least im not the only one who sees whats happening.

your not

If people were more willing to limit access, and not fall for the pos legislation to strip road management funding from wdfw, then maybe your so called #1 problem would not be such a problem! Not to mention as colockumelk has pointed out numerous times the above statement would increase spike recruitment, therefore increase branched bulls. The wdfw does what it can as far as management goes, while still trying to appease public opinion! :twocents:

OUR accessing the area is not the problem, and I for one don't see where OUR loosing access would fix it. Now if........

Just looked at the harvest report, and I was kinda amazed how many cows were harvested with the 50 permits given out last year, and only 15 cows harvested. This year with 140 cow permits and the drop in antlered permits, it's no wonder they are increasing the permits from 50 to 140! Cows harvested were 71 antlered elk were 284, bull cow ratio poorly managed, go figure
