Title: THINKING ABOUT A NEW BOW
Post by: NW-Eric on October 06, 2008, 02:29:27 PM: IM LOOKING AT GETTING A NEW BOW THIS NEXT YEAR AND HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT 3,

MARTIN FIRE CAT
THE MOAB
AND THE BENGAL

I WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE HAS SHOT THESE BOWS AND CAN GIVE ME ANY COMPARISONS OR PROS AND CONS ON THE BOWS.

ALL HELP AND ADVICE IS APPRECIATED

Post by: vanhornhunter on October 06, 2008, 09:06:04 PM: A had a bengal last year and it was a great bow.Get rid of the stock sting if you buy one though.I shot the slayer-x before i bought my X-force and I liked it.Shot a bunch of differnt bows before you buy one.Just my :twocents:

Post by: wastickslinger on October 06, 2008, 09:16:18 PM: I hunted with a Firecat for 7-8 years. I loved it. I let someone talk me into a Mathews last year. I have to say that is shoots much nicer. I say you need to shoot a few before you buy one. For the money you cant hardly go wrong with a Martin though.

i was just going to make my cougar a backup bow or let my friend practice and hunt with it because he cant afford a bow.

but yah i was going to shoot all the ones i was looking at, any recomendations of good shops to check out?

Post by: Little Fish on October 07, 2008, 11:30:34 AM: I've shot the bengal before and liked it alot. After shooting a dozen or so bows it came down to the bengal or a Ross 331. I chose the Ross, but it was really only becasue the grip felt more natural in my hand. Both were very smooth shooting IMO.

:drool: THE KATERA... SEE WHAT YOU DID NOW IM GONNA BE OUT A GRAND HAHAHA THATS DEFINATELY ON MY LIST TO SHOOT, BUT THE PROBLEM IS HOYT IS RELEASING 2 MORE BOWS IN 09 I MIGHT HAVE TO WAIT

the bowtech's that are still made in Eugene, any of them. Then make your decision.

Post by: NW-Eric on October 07, 2008, 02:41:24 PM: your right i dont need a new bow... but im trying to get my friend into hunting and hes been shooting my bow because were the same size and hes getting pretty good but theres no way he can afford a bow so im going to let him shoot mine any day he wants and let him hunt with it during the season. so its just my excuse to buy a new one

he just has to by his own arrows, release and any accesories i dont steel off the old one.

Post by: Jason on October 07, 2008, 04:15:42 PM: I bought an 08 Bowtech Allegiance in may and love it,I looked at and shot almost every bow made, I shot the hoyts, the Martins I shot the Mathews,I shot Diamonds, Bowtechs, Bear's and the Pse's and others, I shot about everything, when I bought A bow I did not want buyers remorse the next day or be unhappy six months or A year later,so when I bought A bow I wanted to be happy with it for a long time, so anybody wanting A new bow shoot them all and take notes after you shoot them, it's what feels good to you ,not the hoyt or Bowtech salesman behind the counter telling you his bow is best, he's a salesman and he will tell you anything to sell his product, for the most Part their all great bows, every bow is different in their own ways.

martin is a good company i have had a few of there bows and they are quality and if you have probles they will take care of it no question asked...

If i where you i would grab all three bows in your hand and feel them, they all have completely different risers and grips, and sound dampening guards on them....really todays equipment there is alot of difference....

but if it makes any difference i hung up my martin scepter for a bear truth 2.....which is an awesomew bow.....much nicer than some martins....in my oinion..

but then again thats only my 2cents also.... :chuckle:

The bengal is a nice shooting bow...not comfy at all for me, personally...but it has a lot going for it. Can't comment on the others.

I got a screaming deal on a Bear Lights Out! and love it.

I think some of the comments above are correct...it's hard to buy a *bad* bow anymore...ALL the top names have good bows, so it's a matter of what fits you and suits your needs the best.

Post by: beav1980 on October 10, 2008, 02:45:03 PM: I shoot an older martin jaguar and I like it. I think martin is a good product for the money. Buy what feels good in your hand and also in your budget. Thay are all good bows about just pick what feels good.
