Seen this critter on the Chesaw road next to Beth Lake. What the heck is it?
-
weasel maybe
-
It seemed to be larger than a weasel and the tail was fluffier than a weasel's
-
Pine martin??
-
It was probably 18" long. I was thinking maybe a marten? It was sniffing the road pretty hard, didn't care if I was there or not.
-
looks like an Ermine, still in winter colors. They are white with a black tip on the tail in winter, and brown in summer. See a lot of them in Oregon when we shoot Ground Squirrels in the spring. I think it's hard for them to catch things when they are still white, and everything else is brown and green, so they grab a dead Ground Squirrel and carry it off after we shoot one.... :chuckle:
-
I think it's too small for a Ermine.
-
I think it's to big for an ermin. Does look like it though.
-
Don't know how big they get. The one I saw last year was standing straight up, like the Ground Squirrels do, and looked to be about a foot high. :dunno:
-
It's weird, but it looked a lot like more of a ferret than anything else.
-
It's a ferret. The ex had two of them stinkin little rats that would run around the house. Go to your local pet store and compare. But I would bet the pick up I don't have any more on it! Lol
-
Yeah I know... It really looks a lot like a ferret, however the place I seen it doesn't add up, but you never know? I'm getting a lot of in put for weasel... awhfull large for a weasel
-
Trapper boyz & girls where are you on this?
-
I think somebody lost a ferret. Not an ermine.
-
Pine Martin?
-
Looks like an albino mink. Or White ferret.
-
It's too big and too chunky for a weasel or ermine. Also the tail is too bushy and does not have a black tip. The size is right for a pine marten or mink, but the tail is too short to be one of them. I think somebody got tired of taking care of their pet ferret and decided to let it loose.
-
Bigfoot scat

Bigfoot scat
That also crossed my mind.

its an albino mink, way to big for a weasel

I didn't even think of a mink... maybe?

Possibly
-
I say albino mink as well
-
One thing that would indicate it may be a mink is it's location next to Beth Lake. mink love the water, Weasels, ferrets and Martin do not. I have no idea why a mink would be white though...the ones I have seen were dark brown. I would go with albino if it's nose was pink.
-
It didn't have a dark nose or eyes, it seemed pale in the face.
-
I use to trap mink years ago, I'd put my money on it being an albino mink.
Last year there was a pure black redtail hawk hanging around my buddy's place on 67th & 108th Marysville.
-
someone dropped there ferret off along the road.

DUCKDUDE...
Remember when Daddio killed one in the yard with a shovel?
It came right up to him?
Wasn't scared?
So he hit it with a shovel before pepper got it... because he was worried it was sick or something????
Remember?
It was a Ferret.
And so is this.
They come in tons of different colors. Even Albino.
They make good pets, until people get bored with them or until they get out.
I bet you guys could have caught that sucker with your bare hands and sold him on Ebay for a couple hundred bucks.
LOL
-
Notice the short back legs.... this was just a random pic off of google.
Look similar????

I don't know much about minks and being scared of people, but this critter didn't care that I was walking up to it. I did try to lure it in with clucks and kisses as if it were a pet and didn't respond to that either. That being said, it's possible it was someone's pet ferret. Odd location though.

Mink/Ferret without a doubt. I used to own 2 of them.
-
Are you saying you had a critter that was half mink and half ferret?
-

No. All ferret der. lol
I meant mink / or ferret. Sometimes they look very similar.
-
Based off the tail in your photo though. I guarantee 100% it was a ferret. Not sure if we have them wild out here? could have been an escaped one or one someone pawned off to nature. Thats what wound up happening to mine. They escaped. Vanished without a trace. :( Some of the funniest little pets Ive ever had though.
My rats came in close second.
Fred & Ricky :chuckle:

Really even if that was a joke, that's a possibility. They're some of the best critters to hunt rabbits with.
They're extremely smart.

Maybe it's trained to hunt for sheds

smossy i have to agree, ferrets are awesome pets, funnier than you know what, especially when they run sideways making their squeking noise and pow right into the wall, goofy devils, and they like to stockpile food, bags of top ramen or whatever they can wrestle out of the pantry, i miss my ferret, his name was boogie.... he was cool, but damn he could get to stinkn if he went more than a couple days without a bath, which he loved by the way :chuckle: :chuckle:

lol Yeah same for mine, Roshi (Short for ferocious) and Missy, She was a *censored*, Pierced my nose one time with her teeth and got me good on the cheek another. Shes a terd. Roshi was the most loving of all ferrets on earth. He was like a dog couldnt go two seconds without being by your side. Could never find my tv remotes or my matching slippers. :chuckle: Plus if it crinkled. They were stealing it. Ramen bags, Old groceries bags, anything.
-
Damn man i think i am gonna have to go get me a ferret now, i just bought my daughter a gineu pig so maybe i can get a ferret, i wonder if they will get along :yike:
-
Dude, you don't know squat about no ferrets, it would probably chew on your bear, and then you'd have to put it on the choppin block!!!
