I haven't seen one of these yet, so here goes. Let's see them hooks and beards if you got em!!
I have two Jakes from NE corner. Taken late in the afternoon on opening day. Cold weather and a little snow in the hills, but we we're able to be on birds all day. Finally nails these guys at about 4:00.
-
My two longbeards.
-
Nice birds guys. I have yet to notch a tag. I have let a few walk away to get hunting partners a shot that ended up not working out. I have picked out two long beards that are on my kill list after playing a long game that they won. Now these two are in my blood.
-
Here is mine from the opener. 9" beard and 1 3/8" spurs.
-
Sticky'd!!
If there's one for deer and one for elk, there might as well be one for thunderchickens.
-
These are great birds. Nice work gentlemen!
-
Opening Day! :)
-
Tag number 1.
-
Blues Rio. 10" beard, 1.25" spurs

Nice bird!

Congrats to all the succesful hunters...keep 'em coming!

This is a Merriam, I am told, from central Washington, my first turkey. The picture is blurry I know. Sorry, it's embarrassing putting it up here with all the other quality photos, but it's all I got:

Sure is. And they look nice even when they're blurry.

Great bird... and don't worry about your photo. If you drag a camera with you, turkeys make for GREAT filed photos, and you will get better over time at getting good shots with them. If you are interested, a great little camera is the Olympus TG (tough) 610 (they probably have a new version now). It is waterproof to to 16 ft, and shock proof to 5 ft (so you could drop it on rocks from your shoulder and not hurt it...) You loose a tiny bit of resolution, but it makes up for it in being able to stick it in your turkey vest and not worry about it being damaged... then you always have the shot.

My brothers two birds from the opening week.
-
Nice birds! Love that sign too.
-
My buddies big Rio Grande he killed yesterday. It might be top 10 in WA state records for Rio Grande.
22.10 LBS (CERTIFIED), 10.50" beard and 1" spurs (both legs) Gives it a 63.10 score.
Nice Tom!
-
Blues Rio. 10" beard, 1.25" spurs
Are those the 1.25" spurs in the picture mfowl?
-
Yeah, more like 1 1/8 now that I removed and measured them. Still among the larger I've taken. Rio's seem to grow'em bigger than Merriams on average, beards too.
-
My daughter and I met up with Sundance and a couple of his buddies again for a long weekend hunt. As usual we had solid action all weekend, peaking when I coaxed this loudmouth into 10 yards with my new Phelps glass friction call  This is my best bird yet, complete with a double beard. Bonus!
Sundance pulled a rabbit out of that hat on Monday just before we left. He tagged a great bird but I'll let him share the story and pics. We went four for four last weekend so we were a happy bunch!
-
That is a beauty! Congrats. Nice pictures too.

Well done!! Nice bird. So do you have the turkey fever now? It's the best illness there is!
Congratulations on your first bird. Here's to many more!
-
Definitely addictive! Being able to call a bird in and watching him strut is something else! I will hunt turkeys every yr!

little jake taken near Deep Creek, near Spokane
4.5" beard, nubs for spurs.
He sure acted bigger on the way in....
Deep creek is know to suffer from ground shrinkage

Here's my opening evening Tom. Watched him for over an hour before he came into range. I think he was the same Tom that gave me the slip in the morning when I setup too near his roost tree.

Well the wife wanted to keep the digital camera for taking pictures of the grandkids, so I bought a disposable.
:bdid:
When I got back she was going to use the remaining pictures on the disposable to take pictures of the grandkids playing on their baseball teams. She finally remembered to do that a little over a week ago as they were down to their last few games, and took it to be processed with a disc and pics. She came home Sunday and gave me the bad news ... it seems the camera was defective and no pics turned out.
:dunno:
I guess I'll have to bring the 20.5 lb Rio out of the freezer, unwrap it, and paste some feathers back on it .....
:yike: :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

Haven't been on here for awhile, so didn't get my spring bird posted. Hunted 6 or 7 days total, got busted at 50 yards opening weekend and didn't see anything since. 7th time out this guy decided to talk. Slipped in and he came walking down the skid trail. Ended up hammering him at about 45. Nothing huge but we hunted hard and finally closed the deal.
-
Congrats on a nice bird .... lesson learned: patience and persistance kills many a thunderchicken !!!
:whoo:
-
Nice work and nice bird!
