bearhunter has been camping in my driveway for the last 2 weeks, almost. What a great guy!! I have thoroughly enjoyed having him around, and I got to help him find and pack out his bear. This guy is a hunting MACHINE. He's got 1 bear, 2 gobblers and close to 30 ground squirrels since he's been here and he is a wealth of knowledge!
ric, he was greatly impressed with my cowhorn howler that you gave me for Christmas, I bet he'd kill for one of those! I can go out to the driveway and ask him, if you want
-
Congrats! Great bear!

Well not much to say. It took me almost 2 weeks to find a place to hunt up in the hills because of land owner access and snow. So I did a lot of driving. I found some state land the had lots of green grass Wednesday and So Toby and I went scouting and ground squirrel hunting the next day. We found some nice areas for bear and slaughter the squirrels for the farmers. So I finally pulled my self out of bed after 1.5 weeks of hunting I got up early two days in a row. I missed a nice Tom on Toby's property a little after 6 am. I went to set up and was busted before I was even started. I tried to peek over the edge. BUSTED in the open and after 2 shots later. I saw him fly a way. :dunno: So I jumped in the truck and headed for the woods. I tried find the area Toby and I scouted the day before but I was lost. LOL I just ended up driving to the other side and hit the hills. I drove around a lot of tree falls and through snow. I found lots of nice green meadows and nice hills to scope. I come around a corn looked off the edge. Sh=t I spotted a bear running through the clear cut. I dropped a round in my rifle and took aim. He made it over the hill. "CRAP" but I notest black through the brush. The bear ran in a dip and was going to pop up on the other hill side. I need to make the shot count before he is gone forever. I took aim and waited. The bear ran right in my view then I fired my Remington 763 in 350 Rem Mag with a 200gr bullet. That was around 7:15 am. He started flipping and rolling down hill out of sight. The shot was about 180 to 200 yards at a running bear. I went after him and I found nothing. I fallowed his tracks that went to the right but the bear tricked me. I walked the hills for 2 hours at a 45 to 60 degree angle. I worked my way back to the truck and call Toby to ask if he could help. I needed a chain saw and a ride back up the hill. So I headed out to pick up Toby and on the way down I almost ran over a Tom. I jumped out and went after him. He screwed up and had to run back towards me. I dropped him with my 10g with #4 shot. So I tagged him and tossed the big guy in the truck. I ended up getting to Toby's around 11 ish. We loaded his gear and chain saw. Off we go back to the scene of the crime. We found the lower road but had to chain saw a lot of tree's down. Then we drove back up the place I shot him and started down to track. Toby hit the right side and I hit the left. after a hour I spotted him. He ran 200 yards down hill and hid in some trees. As I gutted and dragged the bear down to the road. Toby hiked back to my truck then drove back down the mountain to the next clear cut road. I only had to drag him 60 yards and roll anther 50 yards right on to the tailgate. Thank God for Tobys help or i would have to hand saw my way in by hand. Thanks again Toby and thanks for your service. I have been trying to post and had to type it over. I don't care if I have some spelling error's. I will post pic's after words so I have a story up. Unit was Huckleberry 121

I forgot that the butcher found a arrow in him for a long time ago. Did any one shot head on with a Black and White camo carbon arrow? He found about 7 inches and the broadhead parallel with the spin. The archer mist the spinal cord by 1/4". He was healed from the shot. Lucky bear I just finished boiling the skull and I will finish boiling the spin with the arrow and broad head in it. I need to get ready for ling cod fish. I will post some pictures of the spine, broad head, and arrow later.
-
I finished the boiling the skull and spine. Mounted it to the wall and made a mount for the spine with arrow and broad head in it. The broad head is a G5 Montec. Did anyone shoot at a bear 1 or 2 seasons ago with a black and white camo arrow and a G5 Montec broad head. Over in the north end of Huckleberry unit by Oren-rice rd?

It was a fast turn around. I was checking ever couple of weeks. I wish they sent the cards like the old days.
