The topic says it....... I would like to know what is the best semi-auto pistol you ever owned?? Not only workhorses but sick looking as well!
-
Gen 3 Glock 22RTF.
-
The semi that fit's my hand the best and is a natural pointing shooter is a browning DBA 380. It's just point and shoot it hits where you point. I'm sure there are many who would disspell the calibre, but it holds 13 and my response is if it's so bad just how many of them would you want to stop? No one seems to want to argue the point. :dunno:
I guess another answer is the one you have in your hand if you ever need it!! :chuckle:
-
The best handgun I've ever owned is my wife's S&W .357 revolver. It has never not gone bang when the trigger is pulled on a loaded cylinder. Can't say that for any other semi auto I've ever shot.
-
Kimber Grand Raptor II! Never had a FTF and it is very accurate.
FNP-40 - Never had a FTF - Not quite as accurate as the Kimber but still very good.
-
Ruger mkII
-
Strayer-Voight .40
Volqurtsen .22 (ruger copy) Both are pure pistol heaven.
-
XDM
-
Ruger standard. Bought new in 1981. My graduation gift. Still have it. Near perfect condition.
-
Beretta 92FS!
-
Kimber tactical pro in 45 acp. I qualify the caliber cause this is one model they make in 9mm. I imagine the 9mm is absolutely amazing.
Hands down the most comfortable to shoot and most accurate handgun I have ever shot.
-
Full custom 2011.
-
Sig Sauer 1911 Tac Ops...
-
G20 (gen3) with some goodies
-
Hey Austrian Hunter, i am watching this topic with interest, and I am looking for some kind of trend in the answer. Do you see a trend? I don't! Every single answer is different. I guess that you are just going to have to check out a dozen+ sidearms, and make your own decision.
-
Sig 1911 Nightmare.
-
Gen 4 G19
-
I just loved my Ruger P-97dc. Wish I had not sold it. :bash:
-
I kind of regret selling my Colt 1911 Mark IV Series 70 with the wraparound Pachmayrs and BoMar target sights. Was very sweet to shoot.
-
Kimber Tactical pro in .45. Second best S&W M&P .45
-
Colt 45acp 1911
Kimber Custom II 45acp 1911
Ruger MKII GovTarget
And I've owned several other brands/models.
-Steve
-
A Union Switch and Signal GI 1911, followed by Springfield 1911 and then a CZ75B in 9mm. :twocents:
-
XDM. Hands down!!
-
There is a lot of opinion, cool!!!!! I guess I should have been better with the post. I'm definitely leading towards another 1911 I just love the .45 and looks. I'm open on calibers, maybe a 10mm???
I have some of the workhorses as mentioned in many posts, I'm just looking for the next step up. Reliable, sweet looking and powerful enough for a griz.

I am not sure I would take my 45 up against a griz. With that info my answer would change to S&W 629 in 44 mag. would be the smallest I would want. Also I don't think I would want a semi auto if I was shooting a griz....it would be the one time the darn thing jams... :bash: :bash: :bash:

xd9sc, only cuz i dont like heavy calibers. mike w

Les Baer Custom Commanche in .45
I have become really fond of my Ruger SR40C of late. Just a neat gun to shoot!
-
My new Sig carry Scorpion, but I like my Glocks too.

:yeah: :yeah: :yeah:
I too have been super impressed with my SR40C. Sweet shooting gun and fits great in my hands. Since I have had it, I have putt a 200+ rounds down the barrel with NO problems.
-
I love my Sig Scorpion in 40 s&w
-
I drool over this one now and then. My stepdad owns one. Kimber Eclipse Target II.

Well you asked. The best one for me is a Glock 30 double stack. Never jammed. Shoots really big bullets. It just feels so nice in the palm of my hand when it go's pop. There are a lot of real nice semi-autos. Pick yours wisely. :twocents: It is kind of like looking for a wife. :twocents:

Not having a lot of money, I've only personally owned two pistols. One being a huge-point and the other being a sccy. I have shot others as well, but I will say the sccy has been the best for the buck. It's compact, has 12-1 capacity single stack, and has been nothing but reliable. The magazine had a couple half feeds but they were brand new. After keeping them loaded for a couple weeks I haven't had a problem.
-
The one I shot best and enjoyed the most was the early Colt Delta Elite. Love the 10mm!
-
Colt Woodsman or my Sig P226. Love both of em.
-
Hard question to answere. To me guns are tools. each one serves a certain purpose. I have summer carry guns, winter carry, hunting side arms, target guns, hunting, home defense, and just fondling certain ones. my sig p226 elite dark 357sig just feels sexy in hand and shoots like a dream.
-
Glock 21...and I've owned several pistols
-
My Sig P229 in 40... I put Truglo TFO's on it and CT grips... Also did a custom US flag engraving on the slide... Been an awesome carry piece...
-
50AE Desert Eagle
-
I've only owned two and both have worked flawlessly. S&W model 6906 9mm (sold it), and my SA .45 XD 4".
-
Glock 20 10mm
-
ruger mk2, and if I have to add a second- Kahr K9
-
50AE Desert Eagle
I hated mine, heavy POS you couldn't pack around or find holsters for. All flash and no utility.
-
For conceal carry I prefer my Colt 80 series Combat Comander 45acp.
For out in the woods open carry I prefer my Rossi 971- 357 magnum revolver.
For target shooting I prefer my Ruger Mark-2 stainless with a ten inch bull barrel, 22 caliber rimfire.
-
:) Owned them all, always come back to the 1911 45acp.
Carl
-
You guys have some awesome guns.
-
I was always a 1911 shooter until I finally bought a Glock 20. 15 rounds of 10mm in the mag in a very shootable, accurate, reliable package is tough to beat.

 but hard to find, at least here in Yakima.
-
I prefer to carry my 1911 Sig Scorpian
I will carry my FNP .40
If I ever find a holster I will try to carry my Lionheart Industries LH9C
-
:) I was forced by department policy to carry a Glock 20/21 in 45 for about 8 years, I was never so happy to get rid of that evil club and go back to a balanced well fitting 1911. !! :dunno: :chuckle:

Browning Buckmark with the 7" TacSol fluted black barrel.
Fun to shoot all day long and looks pretty cool doing it.

You should get one jackalope i carry the same gun except the rear sight is the fixed combat night sight but still very accurate out to 50yds. I got it when i was 21 for a birthday present from my parents and have been carrying it for almost 7yrs now. It is the best handgun i have ever owned. The only other handgun that i liked half as much was my ruger mkII 22/45 5.5in bull bbl that thing was ridiculously accurate.

Owned a Glock once for about 30 days. Sold it for about 50% less than I paid for it just to get it gone. About five years later I talked myself into getting another one. Thought I must have missed something. That one didn't make it another 30 days before it was gone. Guess I'm a slow learner :( Would have saved myself a lot of money and trouble if I'd just stuck with Sigs, 1911's and wheel guns.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I,ve got a full size Kimber Pro Team Match 1911 - 45acp. Stainless slide & frame.
A Colt 80 series Combat Commander 1911 - 45acp. Stainless slide & frame.
A Ruger GP100 - 357 Revolver, Stainless.
A Rossi 971 - 357 Revolver, Stainless.
A Kahr PM9 - 9mm.
A Smith & Wesson 642 - 38spl + P Revolver.
A Bond Arms Derringer - Cowboy Defender 45LC/410, Stainless.
A Taurus 94 - 22LR nine shot Revolver, Stainless.
A Ruger Redhawk 44mag Revolver, Stainless.
A Ruger Single-Six 22LR/22MAG, Stainless.
A Ruger Mark 2 - 22LR with a ten inch Bull Barrel Semi, Stainless.
A ruger Mark 2 - 22LR with a 6 7/8 inch Government Target Semi, Stainless.
A Thompson Center Contender with a ten inch 22LR barrel and a 45LC/410 - fourteen inch barrel.
A 45 caliber single-shot black powder pistol.
I'm looking for more barrels for the Contender, 35 Rem., 222, 30-30, 357mag, 44mag, and maybe a few more.
You can never have enough guns, I shoot all of the ones I own. It's a fun time heading up to the mountains for a day of target practice, we ussally take a couple of handguns, two shotguns and the clay pigeon trap thrower, a couple of 22 caliber rifles and a couple of black powder guns as well. Once in a while we'll shoot the high power rifles towards the end of summer.
I've got seventeen old vintage rimfire 22 caliber rifles that I like to shoot. I just picked up three old 22s last week.
I also like to collect old 410 shotguns when the price is right. I've got about ten of them.
-
FNP 45. Extremely accurate, looks good and fits like a glove....so to speak. :chuckle:
-
Sundance boa
-
H&K 9mm USP. At the Prison we had one that still shot well at 76,000 documented rounds. Did not have any repairs or barrel changes. A freaking awesome pistol. I have 2 Compact 40's.
-
Toss up between Colt XSE 1911, Sig P229, and Glock 21SF. The Colt being the best looking of the bunch by far, but the ergonomics and disassembly of the Sig are unbeatable. The Glock is just a Glock. It ain't pretty, expensive, or particularly ergonomic, but it runs like a sewing machine...and holds 13+1 of .45, or 15+1 of 10mm when I use the Lone Wolf barrel.
-
I can't actually answer un-biased, since I'm a new gun owner and all. I'm defaulted to say the best I've owned is my ONLY - Sig P938 Extreme.
It fits my hand perfectly, went out shooting last weekend with someone experienced to teach me some basics, and I was making bulls-eyes right away (first time officially shooting pistols EVER). I was quite pleased :)

The Sig P938 Extreme is a sweet little gun, nice for concealed carry!! I am leaning towards the Sig Nightmare for the next gun. Just need to find one in town.......

Yea exactly what I got it for :D
The 1911 or P938 Nightmare?
-
I have only owned 3 handguns, of them the best was my Beretta 92FS
The other two were a Sig Sauer Mosquito .22LR that was fun to shoot, but jammed a lot and a S&W Sigma .40 that would have been an amazing gun if not for the 12+lb trigger pull. I ended up selling the sigma cause the trigger drove me nuts.
-
It's a toss up between these two. My Kimber and my Wilson combat.

I think I've now learned my lesson!
well, at least about buying Glocks :chuckle:
-
Glocks have been nothing but trouble for me. I can't stand 1911 either, everyone I have got has gone down the road. I just don't like the fit and feel of them. They all ran fine but the glocks were always having problems.
Might be adding a shield in a few days.

HK P30, followed close by theM&P

cz 82, least expensive but never a problem

:chuckle: First time I have ever heard that :chuckle:
-
:chuckle: First time I have ever heard that :chuckle:
I wasn't joking.
It comes from shooting big revolvers. There is no place for the recoil to go on a big revolver so you must "limp wrist" them during the barrel flip, it's a terrible way to shoot an auto though where you must "stiff wrist" them.
So a guy that's accustomed to big bore revolvers has a terrible time with autos.
-
Everyone knows I am a handgun buff. I put around 3-5k threw my semi autos and do very well with most. I just do not shoot the 1911's well they are to much of a brick for me in my hand. It's the design of the gun for me.
I think if I limp wrist this 500 s&w and 4" 44 mag sitting 6 feet from me or the 454 they would snap me like a tooth pick :chuckle:
Now the glocks fit me well. They just have not been reliable for me.
-
Only six shooter I have ever shot with barrel flip was the single action 454 Casual. The Redhawks, GP100, 626 and 29s have always come straight in. Even with the additional reloading I always shot my best IPSC scores with the six shooter. So I don't think there was much barrel flip there. Always thought the recoil just went into my shoulders. :dunno: Just started getting used to the Sig about the time I quit the IPSC thing. I expect with that I could have bettered my scores in time. Glock Long slide was a disaster for me >:(

Dan Wesson CBOB 1911

Some guns that cost twice as much barely shoot this good. There are a lot of people that don't like the first or second series of Kimbers, but mine runs fine.

25rnds. 50yds. One hand, standing. Lots of ten ring hits.

That's nice but my glock 20 can do the same thing with more power down range and with allot less worry about rust.

I figured it was :chuckle: I had a little Jennings one time. Was a fun little gun to shoot with never a jam or failure in any way. You had to be quite close to the barn to hit it...and hit helped if that barn was the size of a battleship. But it was a lot of fun.

I have a Remington Model 51 (http://rbsiii.com/collection/pistols/Remington_51.htm (http://rbsiii.com/collection/pistols/Remington_51.htm)). It's darn near 100 years old now. Very accurate, very easy to shoot and comfortable to hold. It's never failed to feed or fire.
I'm just afraid that it might break one of these days and I'm not sure how I go about fixing a broken ~100 year old gun that hasn't been produced in ~90 years! :)

I have owned both a Kimber II .45 and a Glock 20 10MM, in my mind comparing the two, is kind of like comparing a apple to oranges. That is not to say the Glock was not a good firearm.
The Glock is the work horse the Kimber was the thoroughbred. I now shoot a XD 40, I would also categorize the XD as a workhorse as well, still nowhere near the quality of the Kimber.
"25rnds. 50yds. One hand, standing."
My Glock 20 would have been very hard pressed to shoot this well, let alone it's shooter, LOL

That's funny i also had a glock 20 before graduating to a kimber. It was a great gun and accurate. Glocks and the like are affectionately referred to as Tupperware 2x4's in my circle of friends and family. :chuckle:

gotta put a barrel in the g20
I got three lone wolf barrels, going to add a couple more. Nice thing about tupperware is it comes in so many configurations.
The question for this thread is What is the very best semi-auto pistol you've ever owned?
I'm sure there are some very nice shooting semi-autos I haven't owned :(

Para Ordinance P-12 compact

I carry my Para Ordinance P-10 compact from time to time too.

-
Para Ordinance P-12 compact
I was going to get that one. But the WARN notice at work changed my mind. :chuckle:
-
After shooting a recently aquired pistol today I have changed my mind. The best semi auto pistol I have ever owned is my Ruger MKII Target with a 10 inch barell! :IBCOOL:
-
I have to say my Ruger Mk III Hunter is the best. more than 10,000 rounds and I've never had a FTF. It shoots as well as any semi-auto I've ever shot.
A close second would be the XD 40 compact that I gave to my Father In Law. Never had a problem with it, it just wasn't as accurate as I would have liked.
