I would like to start off by saying thank you to every single member who has sent prayers, donations, bid on auctions and all the other wonderful things that have been said and done. When it seems like my whole world has come crashing down I log on and start to read all of this and I am lifted from the ashes and for that I hope one day I have the strength to find the words to properly thank everyone. I have been trying to keep up with thank you pm's but there are so many that I know I am missing a ton and I am truly sorry, it is not intentional.
To the meat of this post, Becky and I got a lot done today and have a venue picked out for the memorial service. It will be Saturday @11am at the Stone Church in Yakima. Also the internment will be at noon on Sunday at Medical Lake National Cemetery and that will also be open to the public. Its a long drive up there from Yakima but we looked at all the cemetery's in Yakima and they just didn't seem right. The second we pulled into Medical Lake we just knew, this was Aaron. You could feel him! Everyone is more than welcome to come to both if they wish. His Obituary will run starting tomorrow in the Yakima Herald Republic. Once again thank you to everyone! -Karl

This tragedy has really brought out greatness in a lot of people I've never met, I wish I would have met your brother in the field. You and your family take care!
-
The Medical Lake National Cemetery is 4 miles from my house in Cheney, It's a very nice Cemetery. Wish I was back there to attend. I have lots of friends back there, if you need anything please let me know, I can make some calls and bet we can make it happen. Give Becky a big hug from all of us.
-
Thanks Fred, I wish you could be there too. Thats a 10-4 on the hug! -Karl
-
Thank you, Karl, for keeping us informed and for allowing us to attend.
I know you have your family and friends there, but I'll be in Tieton for the weekend if you need anything please don't hesitate to ask.
-
Thanks for the info, Karl.

I have a quick question on logistics. I know you have a lot of things going on, but wanted to clarify times and dates since there is only an hour gap in services and a long drive as you mentioned. The memorial service is at 11 am on Saturday in Yakima. The internment is at 12 noon on Saturday in Cheney?

thanks for the FYI
Wife and I will make the memorial service in Yakima

I'm extremely sorry to hear this. I knew Aaron through texts, breif PM's back and forth, and a couple days chatting on the mountain. Aaron went out of his way to help me learn about elk in colockum when I first joined this site. Throughout the years Aaron has kept in touch, via texts, just to simply ask how my elk seasons have been going, giving me tips and little tricks, and encourage me when the hunts got tough. That was the extent of our friendship, but I always looked forward to hearing from him during that time of year, I feel like he wanted success for me more than I did :chuckle: you could just sense his excitement and passion through his words
I always felt blessed to have the help and guidance from someone who truly knew the elk. I'm blessed more so than ever to have that knowledge he left with me. This season I'm going back to colockum and putting that knowledge to work. Hopefully this will be the season I out my first elk on the ground.
Knowing Aaron, hes been a very important figure on this forum, he's been such a great friend to so many. Such a great hunting partner to many aswell. Most importantly and with No doubt a great father and husband.
R.I.P Aaron, but dont rest to much hunting season is just around the corner, and I know this season you will finally bag that bull of your dreams.

Will try to make it to this one, is there a way we can have a hunt-wa meeting area :dunno: It would be neat for the hunt-wa family to all be with eachother.

Sometimes a tragic and sad occurrence shines a light on the goodness of so many.
I, like many others did not personally know Aaron, but his death has touched me directly and indirectly through the gracious acts of members on here.
God bless his family, and friends.
-
I'll Be There For As Long As I Hold up.
-
Wife and I will be there. God bless you karl, the rest of your family and aarons wife and their kids :salute:

Circumstances dictate that I cannot be there, but will be there in My thoughts and prayers. Still does not seem real. I can't imagine how it must be for you and the rest of the family.

For all like me that would like to be there, but can not be there for Aaron's service and for his family's support:
At 11:00 am Sat 5-4-13, please stop whatever you're doing - remove you hat if wearing one - place your right hand over your heart - and observe a minimum 1 minute of silence ... or fold your hands and say a prayer for Aaron's family and friends to find the comfort needed at this time, and for Aaron to find peace, love and great elk hunting in paradise.

Great idea Dancer. I will take a minute and put the calls down in the woods. Mrs. Turkeyfeather and I are planning on getting the bike out of the garage and ride out to the ceremony on Sunday. Any other motorcycle riders here that want to meet up?

You can rest assured if i find success this elk season OR HELL any season there will be some signage in the picture acknowledging Captain Blanchard. Might be kind of a cool tribute to him from the members as we share our happiness and tip our hats (and cups) in respect to those no longer with us.
Just a thought-

Anyone going to Cheney and going near Eburg.. holler at us, we are leaving about 9 am to head over there.
