I'm thinkin about getting new camo this year but I'm not sure what the best pattern is. Here are my options Sitka, predator, or asat. Need some input.

Im a fan of Predator :twocents:

Waterproof camo! :chuckle:
-
This is popular in some parts of the west side. It may be right for you, too.
-
it doesn't matter :twocents:

If its dry, woodland BDU's blend in great. If its wet.....BEST rain gear you can buy that is quiet!
-
you just need to be able to break up your silhouette. quiet is nice, quiet while being water proof is what i juggle with

I'm looking into a combo of Kuiu Vias camo and First Lite's ASAT camo for west side. Check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyQB65ig5PQ (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HyQB65ig5PQ) Be sure to watch the whole thing.

Blue jeans and a brown jacket works fine.
-
I'm not to worried about waterproof it seems to be like 90 degrees in the early season I'm looking for REAL light weight, quiet, and will blend in the best up there in that St. Helens. I got riverswest for the late season.

Check out the merino wool top by FirstLite with the 1/4 zipper down the middle. From what I've gathered, the FirstLite merino wool is lighter than Kuiu's... Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
I wear Guide's Choice pants from Wholesale Sports. Very light, breathable and cheap ($30ish). Comfortable in 90's early elk. They come in green or tan.
Here is a model of the pants with zip off lowers: http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Guides-Choice-Zip-Off-Convertible-Pants/productDetail/Pants-and-Jeans/prod999901361531/cat101321 (http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Guides-Choice-Zip-Off-Convertible-Pants/productDetail/Pants-and-Jeans/prod999901361531/cat101321)

Couple years ago I shot a Rosie at 5 yards....he looked right through me.
I was wearing a KUIU wool shirt and army surplus bdu's.
I don't think it matters as long as your outline is broken up.
Prior to all this fancy stuff people wore plad
-
It really dosent matter. What I wear during early archery is Carhartt camo jeans(heavy but effective in thistle and slash) a camo tee during the day and a camo wa state bowhunter longsleeve in the a.m. until about the time the elk quit talking (hour after first light) most important equipment I have is a good pair of durable and dry boots. For the years it dumps rain I dont plan on my stuff drying out overnight. But i can have 3 complete sets of camo for what some guys have into one. :twocents:

If thats what your looking for then its hard to beat predator spring green, or any predator pattern.

In early archery season, for the best base layer comfort I've had, I wear First Lite merino wool. For my outer layers, I love my Day One Camo light fleece.
Been a great combo for me.

It depends on which weight. The 185 is pretty much the same as firstlite.
-
I put an emphasis on breathable, less stink and quiet over color. It is nice because firstlite and Kuiu meet these needs. As at or vias do a great job of breaking up your outline.

Blue jeans and a brown jacket works fine.
Till it rains.

I bought All First Lite ASAT base layers and second layers and Kuiu's Vias in Guide Pants and coat and I love them both because I think they are actually geared towards breaking up your outline no matter where you are standing, instead of looking really cool to the human eye, or always looking like a dark blob unless you happen to be standing up against a hemlock with a couple of maple saplings around, in mid-fall, when it is 60 degrees and cloudy, between 2 and 5 pm, when their is a new moon and a high tide. :chuckle:

The latest set of camo I purchased was in Max-1, just for the mix of brighter greens and browns (I primarily hunt reprod in SW WA). That said, I think the functionality of the camo for the situations you'll be using it in is 100x more important than the pattern itself. :twocents:
-
rivers west light weight max1. it rains only every day over there.
-
I love the sika lightwieght pants . they are great for high stepping . you know we never have to high step on the wet side .any quiet flease top will work fine with a base layer .
-
Coachcw did you get the Sitka ascent pants?
-
yeah the ones that don't have the knee pads in them . I baught a pair and liked them so much i went back and baught a second pair . go to cabellas and try them on and run up and down the steps skipping steps and you will fall in love .
-
all black.........not joking
-
A wool 3 piece suit.
-
KINGS MOUNTAIN SHADOW hands down
-
If you are looking to fool hunters eyes then stick to realtree patterns. Most of them work. ASAT, predator or Kuiu vias work well to fool an elks eyes. That said the wind and movement is more important than camo.
-
dreaming big I really like the predator and ASAT but there is no one around here (Bremerton) that carries a good supply. I mean sportsmens warehouse has some predator camo but of course none that fit me and no spring green. I just bought a pair of the ASAT and Sitka. Those Sitka Acsent pants are SWEEEEET.
-
I love Max-1 camo works basically wherever...
-
all black.........not joking
Good luck during bear season...not joking about that either. Wearing all black is a huge mistake.

elk dont seem to care if you have a Starbucks cup in your hand , camo up and there gone !
