As you all know, we lost an american hero last week. Capt. Blanchard paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we enjoy and take for granted everyday. Capt. Blanchard is coming home to the Yakima airport this afternoon and we here at the Yakima Fire Department are honored to get the opportunity to take part in his precession. We will be flying Old Glory high and proud in honor of his sacrifice. We salute you Capt. Blanchard, thank you.

For anyone in Yakima today.

YAKIMA, Wash. — The route has been changed for this afternoon’s procession to escort the body of Army Capt. Aaron Blanchard of Selah, a helicopter pilot who was killed in Afghanistan last week.
Blanchard’s body is expected to arrive about 3:30 p.m. on a flight landing at the Yakima Air Terminal. Upon departure from the airport, the procession will travel down Washington Avenue to First Street and then north on First Street to Yakima Avenue. At Yakima Avenue, the procession will turn westbound to Keith and Keith Funeral Home.
The procession had been planned to take 16th Avenue to the funeral home.
The change allows the procession to pass Noel Canning on First Street. Blanchard’s brother, Karl, works for the company, which says it will set up a banner and flags to pay respects to Capt. Blanchard.

Ty,
Thank you and the brothers of Yakima Fire making a good show for Aaron. I am sitting in the parking lot of the Selah softball complex and for the first time in months got on the forum. Omg, sad to hear. I last talked with Aaron last elk season. He will be missed. If I had my SFD uniform with me and I wasn't coaching a game for my daughter at 11, I would be there. Thanks again for helping to celebrate the life of a local American hero.

We don't realize what the sacrifice is until it's someone close to us. Young people die so that guys like me can grow old in peace. What a loss--RIP soldier... :salute:

The real loss comes in when people start to forget those whom lost their lives so we can be free. Yes Capt. Blanchard's passing is a great loss, so let's not forget what he and so many others stood for...Freedom!
All gave some
Some gave all
Aaron, thank you! We shall not forget
