You're bidding on a hunt for up to 3 people. Maybe I'm confused.
-
Up to 3 people can come 2 is perfect. It will be a awsome time. You can come up with me to scout and mark calling spots. If you like you can come to my shop and i can show you how to turn your own call. We will be hunting Clearwater. Nice Cutthroat fishing to. Rick

Rick
The post states it will be 3 to 5 days....Is the length dictated by how long it takes to put down 3 bears?? Or does the hunting party decide?
Thanks
Johnny

In a typical year what are the best times for this hunt?
-
If you want you can hunt a week. I'm very flexible. August 1st through sept is great for calling and berrys.. Rick

Great country for bears, if I wasn't leaving on the 7th I'd be all over this one.

Good to see this one is still Cooking!

Thanks every one. Going to be a great hunt. Rick

I don't know if I'd actually be able to go on the hunt, but I'm a sucker for charity auctions. I never even used the taxidermy credit from the last auction I won a couple years ago. I've wasted too much money on myself in the last few years, time to spread it around a little.
$900

Andrew, if you win you should take one of those hand-cannons out and let Rick call you in a bear. That'd be awesome.

That's the plan.
It would be a ton of fun to smack one with the 338/375 pistol! Or maybe this would make a good excuse to break out the 300 RUM pistol. These are the big choices that keep me up at night! :chuckle:
Andrew

Sweet i just have a little 7 1/2 inch blackhawk 44 mag. Those would work. Rick
-
Rick you got those damn fires out down there yet?
-
Bearmanric - Is that camp spot on private property or public property? Any problem getting camp trailers in there?
-
Bumping it up to an even $1000!

Not a problem. I will be hunting the Clearwater area. lots of state land. GMU 615- Clearwater ( Jefferson county ) About 20 miles past Lake Quinalt. Rick
-
22.5 hour countdown.

I've been so tempted on this one..... Full ghillie suit, bow in hand and somebody calling for me.......
-

-
Yes this is tempting. I need to check my funds./ It would be nice to hunt with someone that really knows how to call. It would give me more confidence in my own calling. Hell, I already have one of Ricks calls.
-
For anyone who has concerns, I have known Rick for years, he's a great guy and he knows how to find the bears!
-
Ok, here we go
$1100.00
-
Nicely done. Thank you!!
-
I have and use a Gille when calling bear. Thanks guys this is coo. Rick
-
Ok, here we go
$1100.00
I'm chearing for another Ripper Bear thread! :chuckle: Go Ripper
-
Who's idea was it to cross the $1000 mark? Now we're creeping up into serious money! For $1000 I could build a rifle just for this hunt! :chuckle:
I only do this because I hate being one-upped. ;)
$1200
I was tempted to pull out the Price is Right move and go for $1101.
Andrew
-
Now this is an auction. Go get em boys.
-
1200 is cheap....that is only 400 dollars per person. This one could be epic.....
-
Oh yeah. Now we're talking. This may be the highest yielding auction to date. What did the Hoyt sell for?
-
$400 per person is cheap, but I'm bidding on this for myself. Let me see if I can drum up some partners. It would be an honor to bring in the highest amount in an auction for this hero's family.
-
1200 is cheap....that is only 400 dollars per person. This one could be epic.....
That's how I see it. I just don't have anyone to come with me. That's just because I don't have any friends though. :'( :chuckle: More accurately, I don't have any friends with $400 to spend. They all said something about mortgage payments or food or something like that. :dunno: :chuckle:
Andrew
-
Well, I had me and two others that were waiting to snipe....but now we are out of their price range. I am sure you can find a few others to go with you guys and share the cost.
-
Any 2 of you other bidders want to pledge $400 each? Or more, and go in together? I don't have anyone else who will be going. I will pay the balance, and trust you to pay me back, or not go. I like the idea of raising money for colockum's family.
-
A few years back a few of us split up one of these auctions. We didn't know each other at the time but we had a great time sturgeon fishing. I'd call any one of the guys on that trip a friend now. It was a great time for a great cause. Same goes here. Good stuff, however it plays out.
-

You guys' are awesome and since some of you don't have friends it seems like a good idea :chuckle:
-
Well York, since you and I have no friends, why don't we team up and buy this thing! :chuckle: I do want to know what the highest grossing amount for an auction is and beat it though. I have one friend that may be interested if you want to split 3 ways. let me know.
-
well I missed a couple of responses before I posted my last. So yes I would be willing to team up and split the cost with any of you.

I think my friends don't think bears are worth hunting.
-
I will go $1300.
-
I have to go to bed because I have to get up early and go shrimping. If anyone wins this auction and wants me to go with them then you have my word that I will pitch in up to $500 to cover my part. FC will go in also up to $500. Let me know If you want us to pitch in. I will probably be on the water until 3:00 or 4:00 so I will check in as soon as I can and get a hold of you. Good luck to the winning bidder and I hope to be a part of this hunt.
-
Ripper and friend are in with me.
-
Awesome, go doc go. Lets win this thing. I will check in at 5:00 to see where we stand.
-
Sounds good!
-
Nice teamwork guys, don't put all your cards on the table too early though.
-
This ought to get exciting tomorrow.
-
Aw man! You guys are ganging up on me and forming alliances like this is a bad reality TV show! :chuckle: That's messed up! It's a good thing that this is a charity auction or I'd take this personally! ;)
You guys want this more than I ever could. I'm just a sucker for charity auctions. The hunt is secondary. I'm not even sure that I could have found the time to go. I will gracefully bow out. At least until 11:59 when I come in and bid $1 more than whatever you guys bid. :peep:
Andrew
-
No don't take it personally York, It's all for the family. Now it's all up to Doc to bid $2.00 over York. I'm on my way to the Everett boat launch to get me a limit of shrimp. I'll check in this afternoon to see who the winner is. Good luck everyone.
-
Thanks every one. Rick
-
Alright guys, now it's serious. PAW66 hit me up to go in on this together. I'll throw this out there early instead of at 11:59. :chuckle: If this doesn't win it, I'll admit defeat!
$2000

Umm....can we get a Kapow?
I would do it but since I am not the keeper of said Kapow and Kaboom I don't fee right about it. Respect the Kaboom I say.

How did you find the forum, Orion? Welcome!

Pianoman,
I stumbled onto this site last summer when I was searching about hunting tips/places in Whatcom County. It's been a great site ever since that provides a wealth of information/tips from experienced hunters. I appreciate the willingness of everyone to share their knowledge and experience so that we can learn from it. Hopefully, I will be able to provide insighful posts and useful information to the other members as well.
I also appreciate the time, energy and effort of everyone on this forum for raising funds for Coluckumelk. Without our serviceman and the sacrifices they have made, we would not be able to enjoy our freedoms.
-
Nice job York, this will help the family out a lot. Good luck and I'm looking forward to some pic's from your hunt.
-
Going to be a killer time. Rick
Literally, I hope.

Way to go everyone

Wait, what just happened? I left for work this morning and left my computer on! I swear, if my kids have been messing around on here........ :chuckle:
DOCSVEN has decided to jump in on this as well, so a big thanks to him too!
I will be looking for a thread with some dead bears in the future. Way to go guys.
You mean I'm supposed to actually go shoot something? What did I get wrapped up in? That must be what normal people do when they hunt. I just walk around with a gun and look like Elmer Fudd. :hunt2:
Andrew
-
You mean I'm supposed to actually go shoot something?
Yes, a bear, NOT a porcupine. Even if you see a porky, DO NOT shoot it! Bears are bigger and they taste better.

I've made a horrible mistake! :bash: What about coyotes, can I shoot them? Possum? I really should have thought this through a little more! :chuckle:
Bears are bigger and they taste better.
You haven't had the pleasure of trying my porcupine chili! It's like regular chili, but it tastes like old socks!

Andrew,
Aim big...shoot big. Jk. Looking forward to pictures. If someone backs out and you want a third person, please keep me in mind. Thanks.
