I'm getting a 17hmr for coyote killing and was wondering what the best grain load is best for killing them. I found 15.5 grain and 19 grain today.
Thanks

Back when I had my savage 93r17 pre acutrigger it really liked the cci FMJ 20 gr and the hornady varmint express 17 gr but I don't have any experience with those to bullets on any thing bigger then a rock chuck.

.17gr. Ballistic tips work very well for me out of my Savage 93.

FMJ 20's worked great on paper....Can't say what they did or didn't do to a yote.

The marlin 917 vs I had liked hornady 17gr vmax and 20gr xtp though I recomend 20gr for coyote I had one spin cookies on me and flop over...then get up a again and run. That was with 17gr vmax, 135yard shot

Thanks I have found 17gr vmax and 15.5 gr winchesters so far, not much out there but the guy at Fred Myers said they would have a full stock of all ammo starting next week so hopefully I can find some 20 gr and give them all a test
