Does anyone know what happens to the youth preference points after they are not consider a youth anymore?
-
They go poof. disapear. For the youth catagory anyways
-
Once they are considered an adult by the WDFW rules then they can't use their youth points anymore. They don't lose them, they just can't use them.

:yeah:And when you go to buy their tags you won't have the youth catagories to choose from.
-
I believe they are gone. The points are accrued for youth categories and the youth is no longer eligible for that so they just go away.
Obviously if the youth has been building points in non-youth categories they remain.
-
Thats why you put in for the others now as they are half price and start getting those points built up for later.
-
That is what I thought. Now I know for sure. Thanks for the info and tips.
-
Yep, youth category just disappears when you turn 16. Happen to my son this year.
-
damn I thought they transferred over to something.... I didn't get chosn for nothing during my youth career :bash:
-
I always put my son in for quality tags and when he turned sixteen he kept his points
-
Yeah I was always putting my son in for other hunts too, not just the youth tags. So in all those other category's he kept his points. And he actually drew a rifle Toutle Quality Bull tag this year.
-
The youth points don't go away. When he turns 15 again, they'll still be there. ;)
-
If they did it like most other states they would be youth until they turn 18.

The best part if your kid has a wild id, you can put them in for moose, big horn and sheep before they go through hunters Ed. No license required to put in for those special tags. To get a wild ID go get them a free fishing license. My 6 year old daughter has 6 points for each of the above mentioned.

That is awesome! Going to get our daughter hers so she can start building points! At 3 yrs old she should have some awesome hunts come about 10-12yrs old.

Well, got to say good luck with that. The only permit apps that do not require a license/tag purchase are moose/sheep/goat. Odds are very long (as I'm sure you are aware) even with max points. But a few extra points is always better than none.
