Title: Good night and good luck!
Post by: billythekidrock on October 10, 2008, 08:01:32 PM: Well it is about 8 pm on the eve of the modern deer opener. I am about as ready as I am going to be. I will be braving the crowds on state land over here on the westside. I am going by myself and really only plan on hunting for the first few hours. The weather looks to be horrible blacktail weather, but I can't see staying home just because the weather isn't cooperating.

I imagine there are many people on here feeling the anticipation and I just wanted to say good luck, but more importantly...be safe and have fun!

I have relatives who just came in from Canada at 6:00; at 11:00pm I am picking my daughter up at UW then to the airport to pick up my oldest son (on leave from USMC) at 1:00 am then drive to Lacey Walmart to buy sons license, by then it will around 3:00am just time go out to Vail.

Post by: Crunchy on October 10, 2008, 08:53:31 PM: Well my stuff is packed and sitting at the front door. If I dont get called into work by 5am I am on my way to Stormking for the morning hunt. Cant see being out there much after 1pm. Then home to be with the family. Good luck all

Post by: Crunchy on October 11, 2008, 05:18:47 PM: This morning was rather funny. I was heading south on Meridian through Puyallup, Graham, Eatonville and continuing south. There must have been 15 trucks all heading the same direction, one after the other.

You definately can tell when it is lunch time at Vail, the rigs come pouring out one after the other headed for town. I worked all outside all day and did not hear a single shot which is very unusual considering how close I am to Vail. Weather must be too nice.

'Bout the same in the CF. Lots of rigs, very little shooting, unless you count the 200 plus rounds fired by yahoos out target shooting. The weather was nice for hiking, but not for hunting.
