Lucky to get two bears back to back fall and spring...yep...a little.
Turner and his boy hunted a lot....they are close by and hunted before/after baseball games, rain or shine. What is awesome is that his son is the one getting him into bear hunting. Huge congrats to father and son even without D-Rock stirring the pot.

You did an awesome job turner . To get your son on a bear and than yourself one in the same spring season is a huge task. Nice work.

Way to go! I can't wait until my little man is old enough to hunt with me. That must be awesome. Waiting for the story.

Alright, I just walked in the door. I was up a little late butchering the bear. Here's my story.... When we drew Our spring bear tags memorial weekend was circled on the calendar, dedicated totally to bear hunting. Errett is on a 12U traveling baseball team, and at the time there wasn't a touney scheduled for that weekend. Well as luck would have it, the coaches were able to get us in a tournament in Everett last minute. The only thing that trumps hunting is baseball, at least in this stage of his life :chuckle:. It worked out since Errett had shot his bear a week earlier. I love watching him play baseball, so it was all going to depend on his game schedule. It worked out about as well as it could have. 1st game on friday night (perfect) 2nd game 3:00pm saturday (was able to hunt morning, and evening. Late hunt with H20.) 3rd game 4:00pm Hunted most the day, and didn't hear or see anything except H20's stud bear.( it was already dead :chuckle:).
Monday we were the #1 seed, and had at least 2 games first one at 9:00am, and if we won the championship game started at 11:00am. They won the first one, and ended up winning the championship.
We got home at about 2:30, and all I wanted to do is take a nap :chuckle: After a 2hr snooze I woke up, and Errett talked me into going up for the evening hunt. It had quit raining, so we took off for the hills. Fifteen minutes later we were walking this long grassy road in some 20yr timber. We got about halfway down the road, when we had heard good size branch brake that only bears can do :chuckle: It was within 50yrds, and unless it had seen us wouldn't know we were there. (wind in our favor) We sat there for about 5 minutes listening, and all of sudden she walked out into the road without a clue. I dropped her in the middle of the road. Shot her at about 6:00pm, we think. We had both forgot our phones at home. ( that was kinda cool actually...... Errett felt like we just had to let someone know instantly :chuckle: I told him..... this is what it was like 20yrs ago.....nobody knew you shot something till you got home.)
We can't wait till august. We had alot of fun, and met some cool guys out hunting in the spring

:yeah: Blacktail are my main gig.....Don't need any extra motivation for them....I probably wouldn't of put in for the tag if it weren't for him. Now I'm looking at august a little differently.

Awesome! Congratulations. Seeing all these bears hitting the ground has me excited for next weekend. I was starting to get really discouraged after last weekend in Copalis. Thanks for the inspiration and again, well done!

The only thing better than getting something yourself is watching the kid do it. He has 3 blacktail bucks, and the bear now. He turned 13 may 2nd.

Good lookin bears guys!!!!!!!

Oh yea, I try to get out at least once a week all year. I'll be out this weekend checking cameras for deer, fishing one of the lakes up there with Jakeland, and letting Bigelk1030 know if I run into any bears. His 13yr son has a tag also, I hope he can get a bear.

congrats!
