With the fall season approaching I figured I'd go ahead start throwing out some feelers. I'm fairly new to Wa state, and big game hunting. I chase ducks for the most part. But I want to change that. I want to get a bear this fall. I went one day last year, embarrasing... And ill be the first to admit I know almost nil about big game in general. I'm looking for somebody who's willing to teach, and point me in the right direction. I don't expect a handout. I want to earn my keep. I'm more than willing to work to learn. I hope to meet and know some of you folks and gleen what information I can. Thanks for reading.

I would be happy to show you a few local spots. There is going to be a hunt - wa, BBQ in your neck of the woods soon. See if you can make it. I can show you a few honyholes on the map and work permitting in person.
-
Excellent suggestion.
-
I've taken a few members bear hunting and been with them on their first bear kills. I enjoy helping people out show up at the BBQ you should meet a ton of helpful guys.

He beat me to it.

If you want to see bear, I could say drive around hitting the garage sales east of where we live. Seems like every year I see 2 or 3 just doing that. Plenty of yogi's in the area.

Don't shoot garbage bears :puke:
-
Or baby bears with collars.
-
Last one I saw was crossing the road out near one of your haunts.
BTW, that little one you got with the collar. Didn't you have to call the numbers in to see if the tranquilizer was out of it's system enough to eat? Wasn't he previously trapped because he was eating garbage?
-
Nope his last meal was black berries. I watched him eat them right before I chased him up a tree and blasted him.
-
Alright, I rsvp'd for the BBQ. It'll be nice to meet you fellas, and pick your brains.

Not sure how much Time that deer has left go live.
-
How many years have you been following him?
-
First saw him in summer of 09. He was a 3x3 with eye guards than not sure how old that would make him. Guessing at least 6 or 7.

Right on! We will have a lake stevens bear hunting army on stand by when we get one down.
-
How did he physically look last year? As long as he doesn't get ill or injured I'd say 10 years in the wild is doable for a smart old buck.
-
Only had one pic of him in June. Saw him from about 200 yards out for a brief second during August. Hopefully get some more pics of him this summer.
-
Hurry up August.

Can I be next on that list? You take me bear hunting and I'll take you out on my crabbing boat :chuckle:
