Seen this buck this weekend. Would you use your tag on him? Do you think he will ever be bigger then a two point? He has eye guards so he is legal.
All the bucks i seen this weekend were 2X2s, 2X1s, and big spikes.

sitting at my desk i say no, i would pass. my first muley looked like that almost. 21" 2x2 with brow's. now on the mountain if he walked out, not on day 1, but on day 3 or 4, i think he'd be a shooter. i just haven't killed that many muleys and he's a cool buck IMO.
-
I'd take em.
-
Yes, I probably would. Its hard to tell from the picture how massive he is or at what maturity level he is, but if I could beat a mature buck at his game on his playing field, then yes. If I was trophy hunting at the time(special permit or out of state), then I guess I would say no. I hope that all makes some sense to someone what I am trying to say. Most likely, he will always be a two point.(with or without eyeguards)
-
He's pretty tall, and has deep forks, your just not going to see that on a 2 1/2 year old buck, so yes I'd say he will most likely always be a "forked horn" and yes, I'd take him.
-
During general season in Washington and on public land? No doubt, I would take him.
-
Looking at his back side he appears to be a cross or a blacktail. If he is a blacktail and I saw him on the wet side, Heck ya! Opening day I would take em'.
-
Yes I would shoot him. Nice buck
-
I would have to let him walk!
-
Send him my way :chuckle:
-
Blacktail wetside I say yes I would shoot.
-
Boom...............the buck is dead. As long as this wasn't one of them trophy areas. Honey, did I hear you say backstraps for dinner? :chuckle:
-
I would shoot him just to get him out of the gene pool.
-
nice blackie! psssht halfbreed, get him outa the woods before he effs up more of the gene pool.
-
nice looking batch of jerky and summer sausages to me. He's going down.
-
Whats the cut off line for blacktail? This picture was taken in the Rimrock unit. Are there cross bucks that far over?
-
In a heartbeat with a bow, with a rifle on the last day.
-
I'd take him, I think those big two points with eyeguards are kind of neat. Most of the deer in that unit are blacktails or cross deer. Very few muleys in Rimrock unit.
-
Even though he looks young in the body he could be egressing in antler growth. He has already reached his maxium antler growth and now he's going back down the other way.
I could be wrong, but yea I would shoot him. Even if it was the first few days of the hunt.
Quick Draw

I would shoot. Nice deer, no shame here. We are meat hunters, racks are nice, but liver in camp is better! Break out the onions and bacon!!!
-
I'd have to second what Jackelope said. In Montana this year, he'd be a shooter on day four or later, but not before then.
-
I'd shoot him ant day of the hunt...If he's good enough on the last day, then he's good enough on the first day

depends on the location.. If he is gonna take too much work to get out, then no... If he is a 2 or 3 hour job getting him to the vehicle then yes........
-
I should have added -in Washington, I'd take that buck any day of the week....
-
I'd be leaving a gut pile on the mountian, I seen his twin brother antler wise and i mean twin in the okanogan last weekend, and a mile up the road stood his 3 big brothers. i got start taking my camera
