Grade the Federal Canadian Wolf Introduction Program

Please take one minute and grade the Federal Government’s Wolf introduction program through a short 7-question poll from Big Game Forever.  Here is a link to the poll: http://4770002.polldaddy.com/s/grade-federal-wolf-introduction-program (http://4770002.polldaddy.com/s/grade-federal-wolf-introduction-program)

Here is why we are doing this poll. Before Canadian Wolves were introduced into Idaho, Montana and Wyoming, 3 promises were made by Federal officials to overcome public objections to the introduction. Our question to folks in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming is simple. Were these commitments kept?

What were the three promises? Here is the direct quote from the official 1994 federal environmental impact statement for the Northern Rockies the wolf introduction:

Public opinion surveys, public comments on wolf management planning, and the positions of elected local, state, and federal government officials consistently indicated they and the public will repeatedly and fervently resist any attempts to reintroduce wolves without assurances that
(1)  current uses of public and private lands would not be disrupted by wolf recovery activities,
(2)  that wolves that attack livestock will be controlled, and
(3)  that in the rare instances where wolf predation may significantly impact big game populations that the state wildlife management agencies can resolve those types of conflict.
Such assurances can be made under nonessential, experimental population designations.

Please take one minute and provide your grade for the federal wolf program: http://4770002.polldaddy.com/s/grade-federal-wolf-introduction-program (http://4770002.polldaddy.com/s/grade-federal-wolf-introduction-program)

Then send me an email at ryandbenson@msn.com and share your personal stories if you have been impacted by the delays in wolf-delisting or lack of adequate wolf management.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback on how well the federal wolf program kept these commitments. It is important that we educate America on the full story of the impacts of these federal programs on the hard working families in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming.

I did this survey earlier today and then sent Ryan at Big Game Forever an email about my experiences with wolves and got a quick personal reply back from him.  I followed up with comments back and again he responded.  I have been a supporter of BGF for a couple of years now and feel even stronger about their committment to hunting conservation after today.

Everyone should definately take the minute or two to fill out this quick 7 question survey.

"(3)  that in the rare instances where wolf predation may significantly impact big game populations that the state wildlife management agencies can resolve those types of conflict."

Problem is they didn't stipulate "how" they would resolve those types of conflicts, leaving one of those ways reductions in tags.

Survey done. I didn't grade them very well but they really must know that was coming and will only turn a blind eye. Thank you Bearpaw.

(2)  that wolves that attack livestock will be controlled, and

Their loophole around this one is never determining without a doubt that livestock was injured or killed by a wolf.  Seems like 95% of wolf kills aren't called such because they somehow can never be 'confirmed'.

Thanks Dale, and my comments were about the dramatic drop in deer populations in the wedge in the last 10  (20 actually) years my guess is 80%

There was never any doubt, in the mind of those promoting wolf reintroduction, what would happen.  And what did happen was exactly what they wanted.  These people do not want any human activity (except their "studies") in the Intermountain West.  Starve out the ranchers because they are "intruders" into the "natural" system, and only allow those academically "qualified" to enter the region to "study" the "natural" wildlife.

I was just discussing that mess with another local hunter yesterday, we both used to hunt up there a lot. Last year I was up there trying to find a moose, on day old snow we never saw a moose track all day. Saw one doe, I wonder if she is still alive.

Totally disgusting....  :bash:
