Title: Peaches Wolf-
Post by: LarMar14 on June 07, 2013, 05:50:31 PM
My dads neighbor was up early this a.m. to his horses going crazy. Stood outside for a while and heard a wolf howling. Not too long after he saw it in the field by his house. This was in the Peaches Ridge Unit just outside of south cle elum.

Also heard from a guy up at Sun Country golf that saw 2 wolves chasing a heard of elk thus morning. Which it wasn't that far away from the last sighting.

Should bring a huge grin from the USFWS and WDFW, release and discover.

Can you supply a GMU and local drainage?

Both of those would be the Taneum GMU (336).

My Brother swears he saw one up the LN last year, but to be honest, I was not sold.  I guess just because I have spent 20+ years there and never seen one.... now I am wondering if he was right :dunno: :dunno:

I have seen two in the Little Naches.

Heard howling on the opener last year at dawn.  Kind of spooky to hear it the first time out there in a hole and all on your own.

They weren't two-points, so probably.

Ha ha ha, I plead the 5th.

Actually yes! The one was a big black one standing in the middle of the road.  Not a wolf lover at all, but it was an amazing site to see.

There were three that I laid eyes on running up in Elk Heights, GMU 336 Taneum, west of I-90 back in 2009...heard them in 2010, 2011 and 2012 when i was up there... also noticed that the turkey VANISHED in 2010.  Just a run down the hill, across the creek and up the other side to be in Manastash GMU.  And of course a hop and a quick trot to Peaches Ridge.

Probably kiss one of the better goat herds in the state goodbye now.   They don't matter though, they don't need protecting at all.

My son climbed Mt. Aix trail southeast of bumping lake on monday, where we were camping and was telling me about seeing a huge coyote that was black and brown with a long snout and moved like a big dog. My son has never seen a wolf but has seen a ton of yotes and this was no yote. I would have to say it was a wolf by his description.

My buddy and I saw one appear out of the trees up on Timberwolf a few years back.

There's probably about a couple hundred trail cameras in there this year so I'm sure if they're there, someone will get some legit pictures. I know of at least 15 cameras in that area between the Peaches units and the Observatory units.

maybe the wolves will move the people out of Suncadia too.... That would be great. I hunted near there last year didn't see anything shootable. Get down there, and bam a huge 4x4 and 4x5 eating the bushes right behind the house. DAMNIT

Actually that is action item # 1 on the pro-wolf agenda.  Use wolves to get people out of everywhere but cities

At least the wolves are getting closer to Seattle. Then things will change quickly.
