I was shooting yesterday and getting some awesome groups at 35 yards. I had three arrows touching and then had a flyer that barely hit the block. :bash:
"Crazy" I said to myself and wondered what I did to shoot 8" off center. I went and pulled arrows and relaxed myself to shoot again when I looked down at my top limb...there was about a 4" piece of fiberglass sticking out! :yike:
This is almost a brand new bow (made in Nov 2012) and purchased in Dec 2012. Luckily it's 100% warranty for limbs the first 5 years but I sure am glad it wasn't worse. Never dry-fired, always stored warm and dry. Carried in a padded case and never dropped. Basically my treatment of the thing has been above reproach is what I'm saying.
Has that ever happened to anyone else with a nearly-new bow?

No but that really sucks, I'm glad you didn't get hurt. I've seen bows explode before and it can be real nasty. I would talk to the manufacturer though, maybe there was a recall notice, sometimes those things get put out and people miss them.

lol, everybody's gonna want to know what brand of bow this is for the eternal "Ford vs. Chevy of bows" debate :chuckle:

It was one of the limited edition Hoyt/Matthews Combos with Bear Cams, PSE limbs, and Martin string.

Shooting to lite of arrows? This can almost be like dry-firing a bow which can shatter the limbs, jump the string, waffle the cams, etc.
-
Nope, it's 60# and I shoot 401 grain arrows.
400 spine, 28" arrows

Haha, no. I doubt it's too relevant but it's the bow in my signature, Bear Encounter. It's an entry level rig but I doubt it's a common occurence.

I wouldn't be to worried about it. You should get it fixed free of charge.

:yeah:
I'm not worried about it I was just relieved I didn't shoot it again or I would have noticed it in a BIG way.
