Title: New To Archery/Bowhunting
Post by: Rebel_rouser on June 12, 2013, 09:36:06 AM: Morning all, I trust the week is treating everyone fairly.

I was introduced to Archery by a family member while on a recent trip to Pennsylvania. He is an avid Bow hunter and takes part in local/regional competitions. Needless to say my interest was sufficiently piqued. While his information and suggestions are helpful, having a person who can provide hands-on training, discussion/support, and possibly a future hunting partner is much desired and needed.

Is there anyone in the Lynnwood/Everett area, or within say a 50/60 mile radius, who would be willing to take this rookie and show me the ropes? I do not currently own a bow, holding off on that until I learn more.

As a side bar, I also fish, ride a Harley, am a Veteran, Husband of 20 years and a Dad to two girls, so conversation can be varied and a bit interesting!!

Bowhunting is very rewarding and just the repetion of shooting can ease the stress.....or induce far more. Time to shoot some bows. Get down to Nock Point and shoot a couple....work your way up to shopping in the classifieds.

Post by: Snipe on June 25, 2013, 01:13:48 PM: Also, right next to the Nock Point is an Archery training school. They basically use a digital system to film you and your shot and give you a replay and advice on stance, grip, foot position etc.
it's pretty cool.

Next step Archery is the name of the program that is loosly associated with Nock Point. FYI

I can hardly get enough arrows knocked to satisfy my desire to shoot. Anyhow I shoot really well out to 40yards now with full confidence, I hope this is a good enough distance to fill a tag, I'm only about 90% confident at 50 yards and that's not enough for me to feel ethical about my shot, almost there. I'm looking for someone on the south side of Seattle to teach me the ropes, I'm in Auburn. Have had my new bow for about two months now (Bow tech Insanity CPX) it is much less forgiving then my Diamond Liberty, it demands good form, which I appreciate. Am willing to spend what is needed to get the job done, currently I'm looking at spotting scopes for scouting and hunting,Have my eye on a Leopold right now. So do we stand in a tree, a blind, or spot and stock here in Western wa, which is most successful on average? Once again I'll get what is needed. I'm in good shape always because of backpacking, not an old guy at 49.
