Title: Eagle Caps??
Post by: KopperBuck on June 13, 2013, 03:27:22 PM
Heading up there in a week. We've camped on Eagle Cr a couple times this year earlier, but looking to get up a little higher off a trailhead into the wilderness for our honeymoon starting next Sunday.

Looking for any opinions, options, etc... I haven't packed into here yet, but since it's my backyard now I'll be in there often. I think the snow shouldn't be as much of a problem this year as most, but hoping to gather any updates or past experiences on how early/late you can get in, favorite trailheads, etc.

I'll be coming in from the Medical Springs end, looking to avoid Moss Springs for now, but am interested on any info from there, or on the Wallowa side. Hoping to get into a few lakes from the southern end and any crick fishing on the way.

Keep the snow in the back of your head. I have been in snow/slush storms up there more than once in June at Wallowa Lake.

We got snowed on over Memorial but it's been fairly warm and dry since. Just watching the snowline from my house and talking to a few folks going into Moss Springs I've heard good reports. Usually I hear first to middle of July is good, but we'll make a go of it either way. I'm hoping to get into some lakes on the south end.

Well, we got snowed out last week. Snowed just above our house, less than a 1000 ft, we're at 3000.

So we headed up to Mt. Emily instead. Sitting in a tent waiting for the downpour to pass - the horses would probably try to get in as well if they weren't high lined. Been pissing for about an hour or so, have a couple more to go. Rained all day yesterday. Gonna clear soon though. Thankfully there's a lot of clay around here. Will dry pretty quick.

Any one have any information on the two outfitters that guide out of Joesph or any recommendations about them a friend has the tag and hunts solo so was looking for a guide to pack into the eagle caps.

To bad the weather changed your plans! It snowd at the family farm as well.
