What tools would you need to go about making your own bow and arrows?

A rasp, lots of muscle and a helmet with a full face mask. :chuckle:
You will understand if you read through the entire post.

Up in our neck of the woods this guy makes them. http://brisky-bows.com/ (http://brisky-bows.com/)
I'm guessing that all you need is a draw knife and a small wood plane and some wood files... and somethign to hold the bow when your making it. Never built one myself.

@ quadrafire i had read through that one. And its not bad for using a little bit of tools. Interesting read.
@ special t that's interesting i might have to look into their bow building class.

Here is a site with some basic "build-alongs" and "how-tos" that might interest you:
http://poorfolkbows.com/oak.htm (http://poorfolkbows.com/oak.htm)
http://poorfolkbows.com/arrow1.htm (http://poorfolkbows.com/arrow1.htm)
Also, if you look at "The Bowyer's Bench" on tradgang you will find all sorts of info. on traditional bow building. There is also a good "how to" in the "How To - Resources" section on tradgang, and it is titled "crafting excellent woodies the easy and cheap way."
