I Just got drawn for the Mt. Spokane South Moose Tag. I have checked the results 3 times to make sure I am seeing it correctly. I have never hunted Unit 124 and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on where to start. Thanks in advance.

Yeah that got drawn in 2003

Bull or cow tag?

You can google Inland Empire Paper to find where to get the permit. I honestly would not waste time scouting way in advance of season if you have very far to travel, if you are going to scout then show up a couple days before season and use most of your time and money hunting during season. :twocents:

Go to white boots and buy the permit. I'm jealous!

Does anyone have any pictures to share for this unit. I am just curious on what is a shooter or not. Thanks again for the replys

Big bulls in that unit, keep your finger off the trigger till you find one you want.

Look at as many pics of moose as you can and figure out what a good bull is, lots of good pics on the site already this year.
-
no pics, but i've seen three moose in the area. one was a complete TANK of a body with tiny antlers :chuckle: i think he MIGHT have been a forked horn! :yike: :chuckle:
the other two were not on Mica itself: one good one (45"+) in a wheat field adjacent to Mica, and one MONSTER in a pasture on Dishman-Mica just south of the golf course.

724wd I think that Mica is considered in the Hangman tag.

Any suggestions on where to camp when I am up there.
-
IEP won't let you camp on their property, but there's a resort with RV space on Newman Lake. There's a bit of DNR land towards Hauser Lake, Id but it gets hit hard by target shooters. You might be able to camp on the DNR land but it isn't exactly ideal for a camp. The resort might be the best bet or the KOA off of Trent. That's about all that comes to mind. There isn't a whole hell of a lot for public ground to set up camp that I can think of. Hope this helps a little. Someone else may know of something around here that slipped my mind. Good luck, there definitely isn't a shortage of moose up Thompson Creek.

Thanks for the help.

BRGS, if you wanna pm me I hunt IEP land in that gmu all the time. It can sometimes be difficult to find there land as they dont have great maps.

You can also ride ATVs to hunt IEP land...........

Well its official I just received my tag in the mail!!! For you guy’s that have been in that area what is a typical size bull from this unit. I am told to hold out for 45” + but just want make sure this is realistic. Have any of you guys seen any bigger in this unit. I have been up their once and planning on going this weekend to learn more about the area. So far no moose but at least learning the area. Thanks again for all you input.
