I drew the Goat tag for Blazed Ridge. . I am not familiar with this unit at all, I've hunted Eastern Wash.(The Blues) all my life.
Any help, info, sighting would be really appreciated. I got very lucky and drew the tag with only 7 pts. I know where i'm going to spend all my weekends for the next several months, scouting like crazy. I'm new to this site but have noticed how nice and helpful everybody seems to be, so anything anyone has to offer would be great and I will keep everyone updated on my scouting and hunting trips. Thank You, Cory
-
Don't have any information, but congrats on the draw!

P.M sent
-
That's Gmu 340 Correct?
-
If you put in as much effort as you are saying you'll do just fine. Congrats man.
But you'll definitely get some help around here. Good luck
-
great tag, the next archery state record billy is in that unit.
-
Its units 340, 342, 336 and part of 346. I will be muzzleloading for it.
-
I'd suggest getting a bow and trying to get one that way if you got the time. Get up into the rocky peaks in that unit and stalk them.
-
I had 17 points and that should have been my tag ;) I have seen goats years ago riding horses up blazed ridge
on the way to Mt. Clifty and on the east side of Blowout Mtn
-
Found this guy tonight in your unit, got to easy bow range. Sorry about the crappy pics, all I had was a crappy camera. Nice goat though, think he might score pretty decent.
-
Thanks for all the help/info guys, keep it coming. Father-in-law(he will be hunting with me) ran into town and picked up a map and marked out all the boundaries today. Along with some serious scouting and all the tips you guys are giving me, this hunt should end in success. Thanks again, Cory
-
Congrats make sure you post up a story and some pics when you get your goat! Good luck on your tag :IBCOOL:
-
Hey Cory welcome to the site! You done just drawed one awesome tag! Hunt hard and smart ! Let us all know how you do!
-
best bet is to share info and take Hunt Club ! I know where your goats Are !
-
I was up there last night and spotted 13 goats on one slope. I see them all the time there. Shoot me a PM closer to the season if you aren't getting on them. I've been putting in for that tag and am yet to be drawn, it's about time I see one of them go down.
-
Hard part of the hunt is over, you drew the tag

I bed to differ :) a I was sitting there glassing these goats, it dawned on me that getting a goat off of that rock face would have a pucker factor of about 10.

10. I have a great video of a big billy that was killed that fell all the way off the cliff to the bottom and broke horn from that unit
-
Pretty easy to get to Billies on reasonable flat ground in that unit, lots of goats.
-
couple in Blazed
-
They remind me of poodles with there hair like that this time of year.
-
Thanks for all the info guys. Father-in-law and I are making our first trip thurs. to start learning the area.
Question? What does goat meat taste like?
Cory
-
not chicken
-
It's excellent, if you don't want it, I'll take every scrap! Oh and this is just to make you loose some sleep tonight!
-
Man that's a nice goat. If I had that tag I wouldn't sleep from now till I had a goat on the ground :chuckle:
-
Congrats on the tag and good luck I drew the Naches tag!
-
Congrats on the tag! I drew the tag in 01'....One of my all time favorite hunts to date. Its been awhile, but if you want, shoot me a PM with your number and I'll get my maps out. If you figure out some short cuts in the road system and some glassing spots you can save yourself a lot of time, fuel and boot leather.
-
As long as its not a billy who's rutting hard the meat will be great, but it will probably be really tough. Plan on a lot of hamburger and stuff for the crock pot.
-
congrats on the draw cant wait to here story and see some pics!!! good luck

Saw over 20 goats yesterday in the blazed unit. Mostly ewes and nannies, but one decent billy. There's a few hiding in the photos below.

-
Unless he's archery hunting his season doesn't start till Sunday the 15th.
-
There is a shooter just off Ravens Roost. Saw him last week. He's in a kill able spot.

That's a naches pass tag
-
West of the roost would be blazed correct? He's about 2 miles west.
-
There is a good billy on RR, I will be taking another look on Saturday evening. Already have him on video
-
North of 410 then north of little naches

He's been there for a couple years, and very photogentic, if you're willing to hike. ;)
-
Is this the one that's been on RR or down the RR trail?
-
The one I saw would be across from RR trail side.
-
We're u in a red or moroon explorer?
-
No that was another now hunter apparently packed into a camp down by the lake.
-
Looks like wood257 must have found another place to get his intel.
-
Hey my adventure begins today. Sorry I've been gone awhile since I first posted. I've worked almost every day since the last week of June with only 5 days off, but I now have 21 days vacation time earned to hunt my goat. I want to thank all of you guys for the info, I really needed it to get my hunt started. I have made 2 trips over to scout and the last time 2 weeks ago, we seen a decent billy on blazed ridge and another on I believe its panther ridge. We will be camped up near Mt. Clifty, so stop on by and say hello. I will be hunting with my Traditions Vortek Northwest Edition muzzleloader. I hopefully will be back soon with pictures and a story. I have the time off to be picky so if I don't see anything shootable in the first couple of days, I have to bring my nephew back down to Yakima on Tuesday and if you guys have any sighting I will log in here and gladly accept any information you guys have.
Thanks again and talk to ya soon, Cory

congrads!!! I killed a goat in 1987 in north bend when they had tags there I was 12 years old, the meat is awesome. Back then you had to wait 5 years to put in again. now I have 17 points, I would love to be one of those guys who killed 2 goats in Washington.
