At first light, I parked the rig and hiked to the top of a ridge where I could watch a large wheat field. There were close to 50 deer in the field, all of them either does or small bucks. From about 500 yards, I watched 2 bucks cross the fence and come towards me. This guy stopped at 120 yards on the edge of the field to eat a tree. I took my first shot while I was on a bipod and he was standing still in the clear field. Of course I missed so he took off running through thick timber and I ended up taking him offhand at 103 yards at a run and through the trees. I tagged out less than 20 minutes into the season.
