Title: Wolf hunting on the History Channel's "Mountain Men"
Post by: cougfan79 on June 23, 2013, 08:33:24 PM
Just watched tonights (06/23/13) episode of Mountain Men and they showed the destruction wolves present to cattle herds in Montana and actively hunted them on the show.  It s not often you see that point of view put out on tv.

Your right, and I am glad they are showing the true wolf not that Disney character most of the media portrays.

No wolves killed 11 calves now they are going to hunt/push the wolves.

Nope, none killed.
I am really getting kind of disgusted watching that show. The guy in Alaska, seems to be the only one that should be on the show. The others are more of a joke. The older guy in Montana, has yet to even kill a deer in the two years of the show. Just because he lives in rural Montana does not make him a mountain man. Who know maybe ten years ago, but now, not so much.
And the guy Eustice, is a total con. He advertises  teaching survival but all you see is him taking advantage of his customers to do menial labor on his farm.
And the show last year of him riding his horse into town was so over the top staged, that it was comical.

Just like all the other "reality" shows on TV. Not reality. A bunch of staged junk. Just like when the cattle rancher showed up to ask the houndsman for help. I'm pretty sure every word of that encounter came off of a script.

I agree, just saying it was nice for someone to put out the destruction they can cause.

I'm not sure if it's this show or not, but I caught a bit of one of these the other day. . . The guy supposedly shot a wolf (no shot impact shown) and when they showed him walk up and grab it to load up it was stiffer than a board! Talk about staged!  :chuckle:

Different show.  On Mountain Men Rich comes over a ridge and the wolves are on the opposite ridge.  He for whatever reason doesn't have the gun loaded and ends up rushing around and taking about a half dozen poorly aimed shots at wolves running full speed over the top of the next ridge.  Hoping to scare them from coming back.

The whole show is drummed up.  Marty and Rich are about the only two worth watching.  Eustace is essentially on the show so people from Seattle that want to feel good about themselves and feel like they are doing good for the environment will watch.
