Post a pic of your favorite 06 in your arsenal. Mine's an X-bolt with a 3x9 Zeiss Conquest sitting pretty in a Pelican case.
-
30-06 in blue steel and walnut, so old school, nothing to argue about, no recommendations to improve it, it just plain works.
Good Choice
AWS
PS You might want to change that sling to something in nice oiled leather.
-
-Good lookin Rig!! I agree with aws on the sling too! :twocents:
-
This is my dads Remington 721 in 3006 I refinished the stock and metal, bedded it and free floated the barrel and the crown was a little beat up so I recut it. The gun shoots great I'm in the middle of a scope swap it had a vx2 but I'm going to be upgrading it to a new vortex so the old man can see!
-
Very nice Mitch!
-
Mine ain't nuttin special, just a M-70 Black Shadow wearing a Nikon Monark Mat finish 3x9x40. Shoots better than I can. Looked but no pics. on this putter.
-
I don't have a photo of mine in the computer anymore. 1903 springfield sporterized by Paul Jaeger in 1945. Have an old 2 3/4x Denver Redfield on it. Don't hunt much with it, never was in love with the 30-06.
-
The go to/Grab on the way out the door rifle is the Winchester 70 SS Featherweight All Terrain with a Leupold 3-9x40 on it. Has a butt cuff with 9 rounds of the "See it-Hit it" load on board, 4 more in the sling.
No pics here at work, but can do later when i hit home
-
will post picture later, but Winchester Model 70 pre 64 feather weight
-
This is my sons rifle I gave him at Christmas. It is a Winchester 670A that I bought 32 years ago. I used it to kill my first deer and elk. I bought the laminated Stock from Stocky's Stocks. I mounted stock then had it glass bedded and the barrel floated. We haven't been out to shoot it yet but we are looking foward to it.

Savage 110 custum build. It carries a bushnell trophy xlt.

My one and only 30-06. It's an older Savage 111. The glass is a 3-9x 40mm Redfield Revenge.
-
Had a ss m77. Gave it to Jr for graduation. He is 31 now! We have killed several dozen bear, quite a few deer, and several elk , not to mention, a pile of plains game in S Africa. Partitions or ballistic tips every one! Told him never sell it to anyone but me! Lots of fond memories with that one for sure...
-
I got a tikka t3 lite in blue toped with a ziess conquest 4.5 -14 50mm ao mc (parallax adjustment with target turrets) nestled in some burris xtr rings with pictanny top cap. The rings are mounted to egw single rail.
-
I have a win 70 30-06 with a boss on it. Always been a great gun. Now it's sitting in my safe waiting for my kids some day.

spent several seasons with my 98 mauser with a A&B barrel, timney trigger, Bell & Carlson stock, and redfield 2x7 scope. sold her to a member here last year and bought an interarms mauser from Jackofalltrades here. Got a Boyds pepper laminate for it, but not fully bedded yet... need to get off my behind! :yike:

-
My new model 70, haven't scoped it yet but there's a VX-III 3.5-10x50 sitting on my bench that might look pretty good on her

I have a lot of different rifles but this is the one that always comes out of the gun safe. She is an extension of my body and soul! :chuckle: Browning BLR topped with a Leupold 3x9 that I had their custom shop put a fine cross hair reticle in. Aim small miss small.
-
Have always loved the looks of a blr.....maybe I need to buy one :chuckle:
-
killed my first deer with a .308 BLR straight stock. when my kids have arms long enough, i plan on letting them loose on it.
-
That BLR is really sweet looking. And in my favorite caliber.
-
Love the ole 30-06. I really like my rifle, and the cartridge.

I'm a HUGE '06 fan...as long as it's necked down to a .257 :tung:
-
Good looking Weatherby.
-
Thanks.....I love it....it was my grandpas and he can't get up and down the hills anymore so I got it now.....I can't believe how lightweight it is
-
Nice Roy. Looks tough with the bipod.
Took my X-bolt out for some practice yesterday. Shoulder felt great, just enough recoil to remind you that you're still alive.
Let's see some more.
-
My new 30-06 haven't put a round down range yet savage axis looks nice really light to carry

This is my baby. Half of it was my 17th birthday gift from my folks, the other half I paid/worked off. Browning A-Bolt Stainless Stalker with Leupold Vari 3-9 scope. Love it, its a perfect fit too. Shoots sub-moa with the standard remington corelokts. But the gun I am most in love with is my dads. Its an old military modified Enfield. It was my greatgrandfathers and my dad and i are the only ones that hunt on that side of the family (although my stepson just finished hunters ed and I have a 5 month at home that I cant wait to take hunting when the time comes) The Enfield holds 8 with one in the chamber. I love that, less to carry in my pockets or on the buttstock on those long hikes. has an amazing solid action too. My dad has shot sub-moa with every round he has tried, remington corelokts, federal's basic load, handloads from a buddy of his, etc. I want the guns so bad, except for the fact that if my dad doesent use it anymore then it means it is a very very sad day, and not worth having the gun.
-
Did somebody say Enfield?
The two on the left are 30-06 and the right is .450 Ackley
-
The one on the left looks like my dads. except my dads has a little lighter colored stock, no black on the end of the stock, and the irons were taken off by my great grandpa and a scope put on

Here is another m1917/american enfield! Got it when I was 13. Previous owner cut down the barrel slightly and added a scope mount and an old weaver 4x scope with a cool post reticle. I can easily get 2 inch groups at 100 yards with cheap ammo.
-
Another for the Enfield. Sporterized after WW 2, used by my Grandpa, then my dad, now me. Still a tack driver after all those years.

Does that shoot as good as it looks. I not saying that there are a lot of good looking sweeties in the rest of the thread.

My .30-06 gramps gave me when I was a sprout. He built it when my mother was in middle scool. Receiver is a G.33/40, Belgium chestnut stock, Burris Fullfield 2 (replaced the ancient Redfield 4x that lost its seal). It was gifted when I was 12 so I forget the details.

Elkslayer
I've got the Safari sling on all my rifles also. They've saved the day on several occasions with bulls in the timber. The best slings for quick shots no questions asked. They sure play hell on the wood stock guns though. I need to refinish my Model 70 because of the wear on the stock.
-
Sweet rifles. Let's see some more!

Hornady 165 SST Superformance - don't bother with anything else :chuckle:
200 yards I'm printing about 1MOA w/o a proper shooting bench or bags, just a wobbly picknic table and a jacket.

Sako Finnbear 30.06. My dad gave it to me. Awesome wood. Beautiful rifle. Maybe I will whack a bear or an elk with it someday.
