Title: Wincherster m70?
Post by: fishseeker on October 17, 2008, 08:51:37 AM
Hope someome can help me on this one. My son has a M70 Ranger. Wood stock No floor plate. Can I convert this to a hinged plate by changing the stock and picking up a floor plate? In light of the recent tragety I think it would be better than having to work each round through the bolt :bash:

You should be able to,  I did it a couple years back on my wifes M70.  It had a synthetic stock w/o floorplate and I ordered her a youth stock to fit her better and it arrived with the hole for the floorplate.  I went to Winchesters website and pulled up a diagram that showed all parts with part numbers.  If I remember correctly I had to order all floorplate components which included the trigger guard.

Doesn't it have the 3 position safety? The safety stays on while you unload it.

i have a very similar rifle in 270 and love it but have had difficulty after ordering several stocks from smiths and have found it will be hard to find something that works.....

i am sure there is something out there, but look carefully and ask alot of questions before you buy it, cuz it might not work.....it didnt for mine.....
