Post by: wildwood on July 08, 2013, 01:59:03 PM
bought a Martin Bengal shoots great up to 50 yards then  at sixty  cant group it at all and it shoots way right there is no windage for the pins just the whole block  I can group 4 arrows in a pop can at fifty at sixty it opens up to 8 inch groups and about five inchs to the right just wondering if anybody has any suggestions

I would double check that my sixty yard pin was not loose/broke and moving on me. Aside from that it sounds like a tuning issue. You could try line tuning it and see if that helps.

i was thinking of taking it to lucky shot and having them paper tune it

I am sure they could help you   Has it been tuned before that you know of? you could try floating your rest over just a smidge to the left and see if it makes any difference.

bought it brand new about 4 months ago  and lucky shot set everything up     bring it to the left would put my lower yardages to the left though right   because I can put them right were I want them  :bash:

I had the same problem with my bow when i got it. 50 and under was great 60 and 70 pin was right about 6-8in. I moved my rest and it solved the problem. it did move my closer pins very little but worth it to have all my arrows at all yardage's shooting where i want them. Doesn't take much movement in the rest to change at the longer shots. just move like a 64th or a 32nd of an inch at a time. once u have it where u want it move the hole box over for the closer shots. Might take a few shots but all part of having your bow tuned perfect. GOOD LUCK!

all bows need to be tuned..they are never right straight from factory..cams need to be timed.

As soon as you started shooting it, the strings and cables were settling in.  Things changed slightly, and you never said if the bow was tuned when it was new?

Have them check the cam timing.  Do whatever kind of tuning you do, paper, walk back, bareshaft, etc.  Personally, I bareshaft and broadhead tune and then call it good.

Check everything to make sure all is tight.

Martins can be a little more difficult to tune... adjusting tiller is done by moving out a limb bolt

What would a five shot group at 40 yards look like?  One arrow is not a representative sample to compare.

At 60 yards, where are they hitting relative to your Point of Impact?  Between 40 and 60 yards, little form issues can really become a large issue.  Dropping your bow arm, peeking at the shot, i.e. poor follow through can really open up groups.

Google walk back tuning.  I think it is also called french tuning.  Should be the first thing you do after paper tuning. I paper tune to get close and then walk back tune. It will get your pins all lined up.

50yards in a can is great.  At that angle 60 shouldn't change that much.  An Arrow cant move 10inches in 10 yards!  Form or vision most likely the problem. :twocents:  Shoot can placed ten yards in front of 60y target and arrow should follow thru and drop a few inches I would think.  I know I have issues at long distance because its hard to see target point sometimes?  Lucky shot is good with tuning, take it back to Ted for help.  He a good guy.

Try using your 50 yard pin at 60 yards.  just aim high.  if they group back towards the middle you might have a bent or broken 60 pin.  another possibility could be your bubble is a little canted or loose and doesn't like the steeper angle.
