Thank you! I will post field pics tomorrow when I get the film back! I am pretty sure this deer weighed over 300 lbs pre gut and skinning my back is feeling it tonight. Took him and my hunting partners 3x3 out at the same time over 4 hours from time they were shot until we got back to the truck, I am sore! But worth every bit

Ok guys,
So i got the pics back today and here they are enjoy!! and thank you for all the nice comments. So the story goes, for the past 16 years I have been hunting with my dad and Lee our best friend. This year was a little different, for the first time in 16 years my Dad stayed home because it was his 35th wedding anniversary and he promised my mom that he would spend it with her instead of hunting!!! ok i can understand that! Then Lee our best friend got his wife pregnant in January, and you guessed it an october baby! She was due on the 11th. So for the first time ever I decided I am going hunting by myself, against my wife's wishes. I got to hunting camp on Thursday and got my tent set up ,firewood cut ,a little scouting in etc etc. All fine and dandy until all my water and food froze in my tent because I woke up to a temperature of 11 degrees. To make a long story short, I hunted saturday froze my ass in my tent and decided to hunt sunday come home and hopefully Lee would have his baby so we could get back to hunting camp. Got to winthrop sunday and called my wife she told me not to come home because michelle was in labor and lee would be heading for hunting camp Monday. So the week started out weird , but Lee and his wife have a healthy little boy. We got back to camp Monday night at midnight, hunted tuesday morning and jumped three different bucks a 3x3 ,4x4, and a big monster buck who I am pretty sure is the buck that I shot. I only got to see the right side of his antlers and it was only for a few seconds not enough time to get my scope on him. I decided to keep hunting the same hill three days in a row to try to get back on that nice buck and hopefully get a shot at him. Well as the deer gods would have it Thursday morning at 7:40 I got that chance. I was sitting on the side of the mountain by 6:50 am just about light enough to shoot, we had got a lite dusting of snow over night just enough to make it quiet and that much easier to spot the allusive monster buck. I was watching the edge of the clear cut when lees deer popped from the trees and started working his way up the hill, I was just about ready to pull the trigger when my buck came out from the edge of the timber and started to work up behind Lees deer . I got a rest on a stump took a breath and squeezed off down he went at 175 yds. Lees deer took off up the hill and about 20 seconds later boom he was down. They were shot at 7:40 and by 11:45 or so we were finally back to the truck and loaded up!! What a hunt, I would like to thank the fellow hunters out there who stopped by our camp if you read this. Thanks for the help getting our bucks in the tree, and to Kurt and Dean our hunting camp neighbors for saving our asses helping us drag these two great deer to the truck. Thanks again for the comments, keep them coming I love reading the comments. And last note please dont ask specifics on where I got these deer, you all know every hunter is like a Poker player we all lie through our teeth . All I will say is somewhere in GMU 218 . P.S I scored this buck unofficially at 176 but I dont know how accurate it was it was my first time measuring. I am hoping I am wrong and squeeze out another four points!!
-
awsome pics
-
8) thants a nice buck dan. i had to take a look again. had a fun time helpin you get it out of the field. i wish i could spend more time out there but again congrads

Great Buck!! Congrats..

-
Great buck!! That thing is huge. I wish I could shoot a buck like that :'(. Once again good bucks. Good luck to you in the future
-
Nice buck!!! Hard work and persistence always pays off...
-
Great buck. Congrats.
-
Very nice buck! I think you are a little low on your score. Are you talking net or gross with the 176 you came up with. I think that buck will gross around 190.
-Lowedog
-
Awesome buck, way to go!!
-
Great Job on an outstanding hunt and buck, either one of those are good bucks!
-
Nice buck(s) :)

That is a deer to be proud of. When I try to visualize the ultimate WA muley, that is the deer I picture.

-
congrats , that is a very nice buck, welcome to the site!
-
Congrats on a great buck.
-
What a pig WA buck. I would be willing to bet he would go considerably higher than 176 gross, gotta be up close to 190 or more. Congrats your gonna have a hard time topping him!
-
nice buck.... beautifull place to kill him also
-
What a hog! Nice looking bucks!
-

-
Congrats Great buck! The area looks like it could be up off of Goat CR.
-
not goat creek sorry!!
-
I need some help/suggestions on what position I should do for this mule deer? This will be my first full shoulder mount deer, I would like some suggestions or ideas on what positions you guys recommend !!! Thanks
-
I like them turned :twocents:
-
THATS A WHOPPER BUCK. it looks like you had it your way. keep up the good work J
-
i like the semi-sneak wall pedestal
-
Life size!!! I have one that is semi sneak wall pedestal and it looks by far the best, that would be my choice!
-
Very nice! COngrats!
I have to think he's well over 176 gross...at least 185.... but???????
-
have to admit he looks abit better than you scored him, with those long mains I think he's in the high 180s, I have a 170 on the wall and he looks way bigger. Congrats thats a pig!
-
thanks guys!! I dropped him off at the taxidermists yesterday, still trying to decide what position????? They said they will measure and score and get to me in a few days, I hope he breaks 180. When I talked to some people in winthrop all of them said they thought in the 180's. Time will tell. Boneaddict wont bend the rule for a late member sign up, for this years head and horns comp!! Im a little bummed about that, IMO it shouldn't matter when you sign as long as it falls within the 2008 season!!I mean what's the difference ?? any thoughts
-
i would love to see him in the comp. but I'm not a fan of changing the rules mid stream
-
I know!! I agree about the rules , it just sucks I was only a month late. I would love to know , how I would have done!!!
-
don't feel bad your buck would be around 90% range and buckluckys bulls is near 98% :chuckle:
-
Great buck man!!!!! Thanks for sharing the story and pics with us.
-
I just found another cool pic I thought I would share!!
-
Still can't get over how nice he is!!! A Dandy!! Looks like you cut the cape off at the neck?
-
didn't think I was going to mount him, but as luck would have it my taxidermists gave my a real nice cape for free!!
-
Nice buck man! did you get the final score yet?I'm gonna guess 185.
-
hell of a deer!! congrats :rockin: :rockin:
-
I say Gross 191 4/8"... ? Any other guesses?
-
very nice buck for sure!!!!!
-
That is a great buck congrats
-
Gross 182 or so
-
Great Buck brotha!!!
-
He grossed 190 3/4 netted 187 3/4, but that was not official yet I still have another week to wait
-
I love the buck and think its a great one. No way does it gross 190 maybe 180, but I would give it a 170 ranking NET. Sorry. I am not putting it down at all, I love it. If I am wrong about the 190, I might just have to swallow some crow but.....
-
Bone would know, he looks at a lot of deer. I would have to say that deer will go 180gross - maybe a little better.
-
like it matters because that is a bad ass buck but from where I sit it appears to me like you are a little short on you main beam and the inside spread is a little bit short of perfect. I hate to pic apart a buck like that though. that thing is a masher in anybodies book. congrats. my fav deer of the year. thanks for sharing
-
Very nice buck!! Pretty buck too
-
thanks red dawg!! I'm only going off of what my taxidermists measured!! He has been in the business for 25 years I hope he knows how to measure a buck! Bone I will try to post the official score sheet next week when it has been 60 days I am going to go pick up the antlers and take him to be officially measured so I can put a stop to all the guessing!! In my position it doesn't matter what this buck scores, it is by far the best buck i have ever shot and it was a great hunt with life long memories !! That's the important part to me not so much a score. You can't put a score on the memories that us hunters create while in the woods with our hunting partners.
-
I agree. The memories are the best part. And besides you will be able to stare at that monster day in and day out for the rest of your life to remember the great day you killed that great animal. No matter what it scored you killed a very honorable animal.
-
Thats a sweey buck!!!! :o I like the deep forks. well done man. :chuckle:

I understand 100% man. Its an absolute awesome deer. As stated on here already, one of the best of the year. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't score that as no matter its a VERY NICE BUCK!
-
thanks bone!! I will be at the sportmens show in puyallup this year maybe we can hook up down there and BS!! I will enter my deer and see what happens
-
He should do well.
-
Congrats to you and your buddy on some fine lookin animals!!

-
score is misleading, if the buck is a toad it's a toad and who care about the score. That thing is a a great looking buck!!!!!!
-
Thats a nice'un bro! ;)

Sniper, either way its a toad and you had better plan on dropping the $20.00 at the fair because it will make the Washington book. I guessed 174 and have to agree with Bone but no way am I putting it down, I would have dumped him in a heartbeat.
-
Here's my unofficial score until next weekl!!
-
MUCH CLOSER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Right on!
-
"Exact Locality Where Killed" is not filled out properly :chuckle:
-
sweet way to go
-
LMAO huntnphool !! good guess bone!!
