Looks cool, I have a Panasonic HC-C500M, how do you record with the camera flap closed? Mine only operates when you open the screen flap.

We have found most newer video cameras at least have the option to record with the screen closed, but sometimes you have to find the correct setting. Typically, it is something that has to do with "quick start" or "power 'something' " in the set up menu.  We have some Panasonic HC-V500's, which I assume are very similar if yours is last years model. They work great with the screen closed.  You have to have "Quick Start" in the menu ---> set up set to off, and then it should power on when you open the screen and off when you close it; push record button though, and you can close it and the unit will continue to record.  Then, without opening the screen, you can push record and it will stop recording and shut down.

If you find your camera will absolutely not record with the screen closed, another option is to flip the screen around and then close it to where the screen is facing away from the camera.  Of course the image will continue to display on the screen, but at least it is not sticking out.

I hope this helps.  The Panasonic 500 series is a great camera.

Thanks: Chris
