Title: Wolf near 49
Post by: SuperMag on July 12, 2013, 08:22:59 AM
This pic was taken July 11th out of the window of a car. looks like the wolves are getting a little more willing to show them selves closer to homes. I was talking to my gf's mom yesterday and she was telling me how she had seen a wolf on her way home earlier in the day. At first i was like ya right it was probably just a big coyote or something, so i asked her if she took a picture to wich she replied yes look at this. I now belive her.

Jump it? It can walk right through it. It's just a barbed wire fence. :dunno:

How close to a house?

Probably about 200 yards. theres not a ton of houses around but there are about 5 houses within a 1/4 mile from where this pic was taken.

Here's another wolf pic in 49 degrees that was near homes along Hwy 20 south of Ione. This photo was taken and forwarded to me this late spring.

Looks like they're both Fenced in.  See the game department has it all under control.

The fence just keeps the fawns from getting away from the wolves.  :'(

Just crazy.  Looks like a deer leg in the mouth of the black one.  At least the leg doesn't belong to a child.

It is a deer leg, the woman who took the photo was very close to the wolf, she saw a gray wolf in nearly the same spot the day before so had her camera the day she took the photo.

So it appears we have confirmed wolves on both sides of 49 degrees, south of Ione and just out of Chewelah.  :bash:

Almost forgot, my son was biking on the trails out at the LPO Lakes in the north side of 49 degrees and saw lots of wolf tracks.

Bearpaw - any recent info that you're hearing on wolves in the area north of Black and Little Twin Lakes?  I know that's 111 and not 117, but I have a camera in the Amazon Creek area up there right now hoping to snap a photo and was just wondering if you'd heard of any reports

We were through that area this spring and saw no wolves, but that's within the same trail system where my son saw the tracks last week just across the highway a few miles.

We did see two wolves (black and gray at 80 yards) on S Fork Mill Creek which isn't far away either.

Cool, thanks for the info.  I'd been hearing off and on 2nd hand "reports" from the area ..... nothing that made me race up there right away but enough to have me bring along a trailcam to hang when I was up there for the 4th

I have seen some pics and heard many sightings out at the LPO lakes..   Some sightings up by granite peak and then I believe a black one was seen in the fields right before you start dropping down to Ione.  I believe there are pics since there was a couple vehicles pulled over watching it but I personally have not seen these pics.

There were numerous reports of wolves seen and heard last year and all winter around the LPO Lakes and in Rocky Creek Rd just north of the meadows on Hwy 20.
