I got a call from a friend back home about this deer. He heard it from a friend of his who saw the buck. It was shot near Dewitt, IA. The kid was 19 years old. Keep your ears open. I will try and get a photo from him.
-
Is this the one? Winona, Minnesota 24" wide, 26" beams, 23 points, 8+' G1s and 37" of abnormal points for an unofficial green score of 223-6/8.
-
If that buck was shot in MN then it is not it. This buck was shot the other day and words comes from a close friend from back home in southern Iowa. It's only time before it gets released.
-
not sure this is the one but this is a pig from Iowa :dunno:
-
HOLY COW :yike:
That things huge !!!!!

Boy that thing is a Pig. I think if I was the one holding that buck in the picture, I'd have a little more of a smile on my face.
-

that could be it. The jury is still out. I am sending this thread to my buddy to see if this is the one.
Nice buck regardless
-
I seriously doubt either one of these are it, the second pic is distorted by the guy holding his arm out all the way. Both are great bucks but world record? I think not, JMHO.
-
Both pics are of great bucks, but both also have enough stickers to make the deductions not near enough inches to beat the Hanson buck.
-
The stickers do not take away from the typical main frame of these bucks, rough estimate of the Iowa buck looks to be about 15 to 18 inch of abnormal points from what we can see :dunno: just can not really tell, really does not look to be much more. I am sure there must be a few 1/8 here or there not inches though off the typical frame. I do not think this is a world record by any means i do not think the mass is there but it is a friggen slob
That first buck was suppose to gross in the 233 5/8 :dunno: - 37 in chs of abnormal would make that around the mid 190's typical frame. need a better picture of that deer also.
I have blown it up and can only find 19 points and there is suppose to be 23 points. looks like there is a 3 to 4 inch deduction on the g2 from the main frame and maybe the main beam looks shorter than the other.
Scoring from looking at pictures can not be done at least not very good
Great friggen bucks

throw another log on the fire...the body on this thing distorts the the antlers. this thing came out of Wisconsin this year?

Awesome bucks! But not world records. The NT record goes 333" and here's the 213" Milo Hanson buck:
-
WOW....All record book bucks. The kid is not releasing pictures yet from what I heard. This buck is supposedly a 232" TYPICAL. Not sure if that is gross or net.

Well i guess your assuming it was shot with a rifle?

True, I cited Hanson's rifle buck...but do you think any of those will go 204 P&Y, let alone 213? Obviously ridiculous bucks, but that's a lot of net inches.
On a side note, I wonder how much $$ Milo Hanson has made off his buck over the last 15 years. We're not as tuned into the whitey world record out here, but there's a whole lot more whitey hunters across the country than elk or muley hunters. I'd never hunted whiteys at that point, but I still knew the name Milo Hanson within weeks of him shooting it. Seems like the Hanson buck is the headliner of a lot of sportman's shows, etc.
-
Ton of money made by Mr. Hanson, Sportsmen show here back a few years back in the 90's? They gave him i want to say $15,000 just for being there than he was selling pics of his buck for 10$ and than another $10 for him to sign it, he had other stuff he was selling to. Just like printing your own money. I do not think he capitalized off that deer as much as he could have, few endorsements here and there winchester was one of them.
World Record Whitetail would change your life for sure
haugenna sorry i have high jacked your thread, but without pics this thread is worthless :IBCOOL:
-
I met Milo a few years ago and he gave me a close up look at his mount. Did you guys know he missed it with his first shot? He actually hit the rack and almost ruined it. It has a hole through the main beam and is very close to breaking off, obviously this would drop it from the record books. I would assume they use a replica mount for the shows now but don't know :dunno: I would hate to be the one to accidentally snap it off while transporting of setting up :yike:

Ehh no worries. Hopefully it surfaces soon.
-
The whitetail world record was shot a few years ago in Albia Iowa, about an hour from where I lived. The kid that shot it was 16 and named Tony Leuvstune (SP?) Not sure about the score, but the deer was Iowa's equivilent of the whomper bull killed in the blues last month. Everyone knew about him and his days were numbered.
-
B & C has the world record typical as Milo Hansen's and the world record non-typical as the St. Louis County buck at 333 7/8.

According to Boone & Crockett, the buck in the picture was killed on Oct 21st, it is 28 points and is scoring in the 270's

You're right, I should have been more specific. The Albia Buck is the largest ever killed by a hunter. 307 5/8"
-
This is the buck. Somewhere along the trail the story got mixed up. I just recieved the email today confirming it. :'( Sorry for the goose chase :dunno:
At least we got to see some nice WT's posted and represented from my home state IOWA!!
