Hiked to a place called Spider Meadows and Above towards Spider Gap. Berries aren't out yet. Saw lots and lots of Deer, but no Bear.
Here's the Google Earth view:

Here's the view back towards the Meadows from up near the base of Spider Gap:

Glassed the avalanche shoots in the evening and at dawn. Didn't see any Black ones nor sign. Saw many many deer. Probably 30'ish over Saturday and Sunday. All were at dusk and dawn, except one 3 three point in velvet mid-day Saturday.

Sorry for having multiple posts, but the system won't let me post multiple linked pictures in one post.
Not next weekend, but the following is opening day!
I'm so excited...

Looks like a good area. Still no berries though eh? I half expect to find some when I go out later this week to scout.

The meadows are at about 5k feet. The berries were still green and about the size of a pea.
Another month or so should be good...

I bet once the berrys are ripe, you got your self one heck of a spot

Only problem is that it's 6.5 miles to where the pics were taken. I'm going to look for a place that's a little closer to a road. Multiple trips carrying many pounds of meat doesn't sound that entertaining. Not as young as I used to be...

I went out yesterday (Gifford Pinchot) and found a few ripe berries down lower. The berries higher up seemed to be pretty sparse. Berries might be a good thing to find this year as at least where I looked they were thin.

Really cool spot. Thanks for doing our scouting! See you in September. :chuckle: :chuckle: j/k

I went up to a spot yesterday that was around 4000' and the berries are just starting to come on. Tiny, about 1/8th of an inch.
