I want to be hands free hiking.
What is the best day pack that you can strap a bow to?
-
I like the Eberlestock x2 with the bow bucket added.
-
tenzing 2220
-
not very big, but i've got a badlands ultraday. carries what i need, and i strap my bow with the factory straps
-
Hornhunter Full Curl Or Mainbeam XL
-
Best thing to do is go somewhere like Cabela's or Sportsman's with a couple packs in mind and try them on to see what fits best and what you're most comfortable with.
-
I like my Badlands 2200 for strapping on my bow.
-
Badlands Superday
-
Badlands 2800 works for me
-
I like the Eberlestock x2 with the bow bucket added.
Just picked up one of these. They are nice
-
I use my Badlands 2800 as a day pack all the time now. Easily handles a bow or rifle.

Me too.
-
Mystery Ranch Saddle Peak or Fuze. They are American made and in the same price range.
-
Nimrod pinnacle pack with bow attachment. Cand add and subtract parts to fit what u want. Local and American made.
-
my Sitka has worked well and held up so far and i'm really hard on chit
-
I have the Badlands 2200, Superday, and the Eblerstock Tailhook. To be honest I never use my tailhook to carry my bow. It's the older model though and the new one looks pretty cool.

One more for the BL 2800.

I'm a big fan of Eberlestock packs and I have tried real hard to like the buttbucket. But I just have never liked it and can not seem to figure a way to like it any better.
My favorite small pack with bow carrier is Blacks Creek Western pack. Though I do not think she makes them anymore. Perhaps someone who knows more about the Tensing products can say if Jay took that nice bow carrier feature with him.

Its funny, your one of the few people who can post about a certain piece of gear and I ALWAYS find myself looking it up :chuckle: Looks like camofire had that black creek western pack for 68$ awhile ago.

Badlands here!
-
Eberlestock M5 pack , also comes with scabbard, and 2 hydration pockets ;) I love mine
-
Bad lands 2800 for me
-
Kifaru dt3 with grab it.

Hands down best bet IMO
-
Did lots of research this year on new packs and got a X2, added the Bow Bucket and its been working better than expected...very easy to use and bow stays right there.
-
I like my Badlands 2200 for strapping on my bow.
Me too. Though I will add, when it is below 25 degrees, it gets a bit noisy for stalking.
-
When it gets below 25 degrees, I'm goose hunting.
-
That Eberlestock M5 pack has a good built in frame right?
-
I like the Eberlestock x2 but would also consider the new Kuiu Icon 1800.
-
I bought the cabelas brand scout pack earlier this year. After my badlands pack suffered dual shoulder strap failure while on a hike I needed a new one. I got it on sale and I'm rather happy with it. It was kind of tricky figuring out how to strap the bow in it, but once you figure it out its a breeze.
Sent from my space modulator.

I Picked up one of the Granite Gear Nimbus Core packs, open center section carrys rifle or bow while I bike. Cool pack, also the granite gear belts use molle webbing so you can attach the Kifaru gun bearer, which i believe also can pocket the end of a bow. Price is right for a great pack, $210 at BC with unlimited return policy or i got mine off ebay for $125 (new).

Any pack and a couple Bungee cords will do the job.
-
the eberlstock X2 has been one of my favorite packs.
-
Alps Outdoorz Pursuit has been a winner for me. They just revised this model with the Falcon that has a dual aluminum stay that is more stable. For the money their hard to beat and you can buy 2 of them to 1 Badlands or Eberlstock.
-
I have a black creeks all American that I like so far first year I've used it.
-
The x2 is awesome unless your tall or have a long torsoe. I'm 6'4" and I'm bumbed that it wouldn't fit right. Under $200 less than 5lbs rated at 2300ci now and can carry an elk quarter. What else could you ask for?
-
I like my stika
-
I use the badlands super day. Works great! Also really like the built in pistol holster in the hip belt! Best idea ever!!
-
Im using a superday and love it. If I get to test the new easton backs ill let you know how they do.
-
tenzing 2220
:yeah:
-
Here is second thumbs up on the Alps packs. I'm a badlands 2800 guy, however I bought one of these for just a day pack as it converts from a fanny pack and love it.

Hands down the eberlestock. Either the slingblade pack or the K5. I now own both and love them both. The original slingblade is worth its weight in gold if you can find one. The new one is a little heavy and clunky but still very functional. :twocents:
-
Love my Badlands 2200. I picked it up for 160.00 on Camofire. If you have a short torso it could be a problem though. If you want to spend twice that amount try a mystery ranch crew cab. It just wasn't in my budget :)
-
I use the eberlestock X1A1
no special bow bucket to add on, built right into the pack

I've been using it predator hunting, I put a rifle in the built in scabbard and hop on my snowmobile and ride miles in 3-4 foot of untracked snow cutting tracks.
works awesome on the snowmobile that way. I haven't carried the bow much in it but I know it fits well in there and doesn't wiggle around testing it.
I got a jack in the box, and CS24B foxpro stuffed in it right now - still plenty of room for lunch and winter survival stuff too
-
I use a nimrod, but am liking the looks of the eberlestock more and more
-
Mystery ranch NICE 6500 for me. I can fit my whole bow inside of it :chuckle: but seriously though, awesome pack.
-
Almost any pack will carry a bow just fine. I wouldn't buy one with a special bow compartment - just more weight that I won't want when I'm rifle hunting. Bows are easy to attach to the back, just need a couple straps. Rifles are more difficult. I posted this one earlier today in a different thread, but it applies here too!
-
Black's Creek Alaskan but they stoppped making it.
-
I've had a tough time finding bow friendly packs locally. I needed one that was motorcycle friendly as well.
Ended up with this one: http://www.gameplangear.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=10&idcategory=11 (http://www.gameplangear.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=10&idcategory=11)
It does pretty well on the bike. There are a few things that could be better like the cam covers. Plenty of room and pockets.

+1 to KFhunter, I really liked having my X1A1 for a day pack this year. It had more than enough room and the quickdraw hookup was nice to have. Plus I can easily carry a front shoulder and meat bag out on the first trip. Plus the built in rifle scabbard works really well for a spotting scope or tripod.
-
Badlands Superday for bow or rifle.
-
I previously posted about the bow sling pack I have been using. It does work great for the purpose it was purchased for - riding on my motorcycle with the bow.
Today I ran across Nimrod packs. Really like this pack system. Ended up getting a Pinnacle pack and a few accessories. Bow rides nice a secure. Lots of space. Very flexible system. Comfy. And..... made locally in the Western Washington. It probably will not replace the sling for riding on the motorcycle though.

Blacks Creek Canadian. It has almost 4k cubic inches, a detachable smaller pack and rifle/bow harness. It also comes with a rain fly attached. The pockets on the inside are awesome and you can organize your smaller gear. The pack also has 3 cinch straps on each side so when not loaded you can cinch it down pretty small. I huge plus to this pack is that it has a meat shelf/compartment. I personally packed 2x caribou quarters in this pack on my last 40 mile hunt in AK and it did the job great.
