My 15 yr old had a doe tag in Brewster and scored this weekend. It was a 225 yrd shot He was a happy guy. The deer suffered some serious ground shrinkage when we got down to it :chuckle: But he was happy none the less.

 Congrats to him.

awesome. is that a 243 single shot. happy you got him out there.
-
Congrats to your boy. The ground shrinkage just makes it that much easier to pack out. Should be good eating.

Way to go, glad to see more kids getting critters this year.

David congrats to the kid!
We went over to Teanaway last week and left after four days of "Mountain climbing" without even seeing a deer that had horns..I think i saw 15 doe and 2 fawn in 4 days ..NO BUCKS LET ALONE ANY WITH 3 POINTS OR MORE...And we had anywhere from 7-9 guys in the field at any given time.. It was....great to see everybody, great to get out and enjoy the mountains but terrible terrible mule deer hunting.. First time in 25 plus years that camp never harvested deer.. They usually get multiple but it has been much tougher with the 3 pt. or better change. We are not sure if it was a harsh winter, warm weather week or a combination of the two but it would be nice to hunt closer to halloween where snow is almost a given.
Anyway congrats again to the kid and we'll talk soon

Very cool. My oldest daughter shot a BIG doe at 23 yards for her first back in 04 and it turned out to be a button buck. :dunno: Tiny little guy but tasty to say the least. :EAT: I shot a doe fawn in 06. I swear I thought is was a nice doe and when I walked up to it I actually felt bad for the tiny little thing  but once again, it was great eating. :EAT: I only wish there was more meat to them. Tell your son congrats! Was it his first? Oh, Great shot too!!!

We ate some backstrap last night MMMMM!
It actually is his 4th deer. I told him to look for a collar when we got up to it, then we both laughed :chuckle:
We were glad it was small when we had a 2 mi drag though :chuckle:

Thats a bummer Bob. Did anyone see any bucks? Over the 2 weekends we saw 12-13 bucks. I took a shot at a decent 3 point on the move and missed as he headed over a hill. The deer didn't offer any opportunities for a shot, they were either too far away or we couldn't positively identify the points for sure. I'm sure several were legal. The first weekend we saw a couple of monster bucks that were off a half mile or so. we tried to stalk but couldn't close the distance as they were feeding back down into the sage. Oh well, I guess that means we get to hunt the late hunt :chuckle:
