Title: Hoyt Carbon Element - Finally!!
Post by: Griz231 on July 23, 2013, 02:21:18 PM
Finally pulled the trigger and got one.  So far loving it.  Definitely an upgrade from my AlphaMax 32.  Just wanted to brag a little.  :IBCOOL:

You suck, and I mean that in the nicest possible way! I've wanted one of those since they came out.

It's all good.  I ended up finding this one on Ebay with only 50 arrows thru it at a pretty good price.  It had the QAD rest and Fuse sight, then I added the hoyt 6.5 stabilizer and hoyt one piece quiver.
They shoot amazing!  Can't wait for elk camp.

Looks great.   I often wonder if I woulda preferred all black instead of the Max-1.

Top notch right there, I like mine, Theyre supposed to be the bee's knees, at $150 for a quiver they better be though :chuckle: Super close to the bow, pivot-able to help bow balance. 5 Arrow slots, Foamless arrow guard, you can pickup a foam insert for it if that's how you like to roll.

Crap!! Anybody wanna buy a hoyt quiver?
Just looking at tight spot website makes me want one.
Wonder if Van winkles will let me return and order different one. Only been on bow for a couple days.

C'mon, you gotta get a Tight Spot for that nice of a bow!

If that bow shop is any good at all, they'll take care of you on the Hoyt quiver.

I have noticed my bow feels front heavy with the hoyt quiver. Being able to rotate it like the tightspot might be the ticket.
I called last night and they said they would.  Did some reading on the tightspot last night and gets great reviews. Not sure why I didn't check it out before. Thanks for the recommendation.

RKT, or Fuel cams?  I have the Fuel .... love the bow, the short valley takes a little getting used to though.
Understand the valley is a little better on the RKT?
Also... took awhile to get it tuned right after getting new strings.
I  have the Hoyt quiver... no problems with it at all.... only time I'd like to remove it is when on a horse.

Enjoy

OK.............I'll bite on this one.
I'm shooting a 32 Alphamax.
What is so much better on the Carbon Element with the RKT cams vs the 32 Alphamax?

I can buy a Carbon Element for $1000 and swap over all my goodies.
I'm just curious why I should in your opinion.

They're RKT cams by looking at the picture.

I don't get that the OP is trying to get anyone to switch. He just likes his new bow. I do too.

As far why is it so much better than yours, I guess you'd have to try both side-by-side to find out. There's a half lb weight difference, which is about 16% and it's made of carbon instead of steel or aluminum. I don't know how that translates to an advantage.

It's way less than 16% once your goodies are mounted on it.
I've shot one but I wanted the original posters opinion of why it's better than the Alphamax.

The draw is smoother for me and I can tell it shoots quite a bit faster.  I can't shoot two of my blocks cause my arrows are going clear thru them and another 40 yds beyond that.  It also feels a bit lighter. Oh, and it looks bad ass!!!
Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with the Alphamax.  Only real reason I did the swap was my buddy is getting into archery and so I sold him my bow. Great excuse to get a new bow.

I will not discourage you from it.  :chuckle:  I think you should go for it.  I picked mine up for $950 with the 3pin Fuse Pilot Sight and the QAD drop away.  Only 50 arrows thru it.  It was some guys extra bow.  I did take a chance and bought off Ebay, but it worked out great for me.

I have noticed that my Alphamax seems to want to leave early sometimes.
Feels a little like a roping horse waiting for the chute to open.
At full draw did you notice that the Element was easier to hold with a nice defined valley?

I THINK the limbs are the same as on my Spyder.......

I find it easier to hold than my old bow....less jumpy by far.

It is definitely easier to hold than the alphamax.

I'm gonna say absolutely not with mine.  Zero valley, but I've got used to it.

After researching more and looking at other quivers, looks like the tightspot is the way to go.  Didn't get to physically see one, but after seeing all the features it has, I think it will help with the balance.  The way the hoyt quiver was mounted it made the bow front heavy.  Ordered it up yesterday! I'll update ya when I get it.

All right fellas.  I finished up the Carbon Element last week.  Here it is:  Switched to a TightSpot Quiver (frickin awesome, best quiver I've owned) the Spot Hogg SDP7 Sight and went back to the Ripcord which I have had great success with.  Tried the vertical Trophy Ridge and couldn't get used to it, tweaked my eyes and made the pins look like they all curved to the right, weird  :dunno:
So far the SDP7 is pretty sweet too.  I'm only dialed in to 60 yards so far.

I put the Nockturnals on my arrows too.  Figured why not since its legal now.  Especially since I upgraded to the FMJ's this year.  Talking $20 per arrow w/ broadhead, I guess now they are $28 arrows with the nocks, oh well, go big or go back in your tent!

I am a 100% believer in the tight spot. Everyone in camp said they are buying one. Super lightweight and I love that the first arrow comes out the side, makes it quick and smooth.
Thanks again for the referral. Have to let you know when we do elk burgers for the hawks game or something.

That's so cool. I should be selling Tight Spot for a living. And, if the Hawks are playing the Pats, you've got a deal. I'll probably have to sit across the room, however.  :chuckle:
