my wife is making me go fishing with her dad on Saturday. He wants to go to Sprague lake. I need tips for fishing there. we will be shore fishing.
first off, what part of the lake am I better off fishing? what to use? thanks for any help.

Depends what you're fishing for. Like a guy in a movie once said, Dance with who brung ya. Meaning use baits that have worked for you before.

I think we will be targeting trout. I've never fished there before. anyone been there lately? hows the fishing there right now

I have heard the trout are fishing well (probably power bait from the shore) If I was to go I would try some nightcrawlers off the bottom, or even some cut bait or dough bait to try for some catfish.
There are docks on the east end and the northwest at private launches, but I think you can fish them for a fee.
The public launch does not have a dock (or at least it didn't a couple of yrs ago)

We stayed at the sprague lake resort a week ago. They were killing the trout on green powerbait. We fished for about 15 minutes before the skeeters tried to carry me off. Straight out from the docks as far as you can cast. Corn and worms work good as well.
