Title: Spokane Area Archery Range?
Post by: 10thmountainarcher on July 28, 2013, 07:09:58 PM: I just moved back to the pacific northwest from Louisiana, and want to do some shooting during the week to get ready for elk season. I was just curious if anyone knew some affordable ranges in the area. I know there is Spokane Valley, but I've been there and did not like the atmosphere AT ALL. I've looked into evergreen, but I only see membership type shooting. I'm not looking to pay 80 dollars a year, or 30 dollars with volunteer time. I live in apartment in town so shooting in the back yard is not an option. My parents own 40 Acres in Ione so thats where I do most my shooting at my own targets, just not an option when I'm in Spokane. Any help with a location would be appreciated. Thanks.

Other than the options already mentioned, I dont really have any other options for ya. I shoot in my backyard but I know thats not really gonna work in apts.

Post by: jechicdr on July 28, 2013, 10:39:06 PM: I just fork out the 80 bucks and shoot at Evergreen. The course is nice for practicing the odd yardages as one would typically do hunting. I bring my block out to the broadhead range when I am broadhead tuning and practicing with my broadheads. It is expensive, but it is only once a year. I shot at Spokane Valley Archery the first year I bought my Mathews there, but it was too far away and I didn't make it out there as much are I really should have.

While there I met several members who were very welcoming! Since I'm very new to archery and would like to meet others in the hobby, I felt that the $40.00 family membership was well worth the price so I paid it. My 7 year old daughter is also getting into archery and my son has been shooting archery for several years. This is why I opted for the family membership.

8 hours of volunteer work, with 12 months to do it in, seems like a small price to pay for the reduced renewal fee. Heck, that time can be spent making new friends!

I enjoy meeting people who have the same interests as me. I need and welcome the help of other hobbyists with more experience than myself. The range is conveniently located about 3 miles from my home. For all of these reasons, membership was the right option for me.

just pay the price at evergreen and be done with it. Its cheaper than buying your own targets anyways.

Pretty evident that I stated I had my own targets in Ione right there... Just not an option to transport them back and forth. $10 to shoot one time at range is expensive, especially with having to drive all the way out there. I was simply asking if there were more options then the two I had already knew of. Evergreen doesn't seem bad with the reduced membership. Just wasn't clear how that all worked out.

It's all good, targets get expensive so I cant (the wife wont let me) buy some more haha :chuckle: Living in an apartment sucks, I want to be able to walk outside and shoot my bow whenever I want again.. Need to get tuned back up for elk season, so I need to really fling some arrows.. I'll check evergreen out.
