...I am not sure about your caliber choice though. .270wsm will certainly do the job, but I think you might be better off with .300win , 7mmrem , or 30.06. I imagine that you will end up paying a bunch more for your ammo for not much ballistic advantage...Just my :twocents:
How would you be better off with a 7mm Remington than a 270 WSM? Diameter difference is .007" which is hardly worth noting. Yes, you get heavier bullets, but what can't a good 150 grain .277 bullet do? Power wise, they're on a level playing field. And what is he hunting that he needs a 300 Winchester Magnum? The 30-06 is a great overall cartridge, hard to ever go wrong with it.
Price of ammo, they're all pretty much too expensive no matter what caliber you get. Sucks, but at least thats what I've been seeing. And all else being equal, there will be little difference in price with all the magnums.
