This deer was actually shot last Monday (the 13th), I took a while to post the story. Anyway, here's how my story go's; SATERDAY: Jumped three doe early in the morning with my dad, that was it, saw lots of sign, found some major trails, but no bucks. SUNDAY: me and my dad decide to head to a clearing maybe 50 yds. across, 300 yds. long, with thick, thick timber to the left, and open timber to the right, we often see deer in this spot, anyway, my dad was going to circle around and do a drive through the thick crap, while I sat on the clearing, so I stood and glassed, and I looked down and saw a odd looking black stump about 130 yds. away from me in the middle of the clearing, so I pull up my binos just to be safe, and I saw a rack staring directly at me, so I moved over to a tree and rested my rifle on the tree and put the scope on 10 power, couldn't find the deer in the scope, so I pull up the binos, find the deer back, and pull up the rifle again, eventually i find the deer, and it is still staring right at me, I pray oh dear Jesus, let it be a three point, right after praying that, it turned its head, i saw the three points, and I clicked off my safety, right as me safety gos off, the deer turns and walks STRAIGHT downhill :bash: it walked 50 yds, and turned broadside, to the left and headed towards the thick crap, so I decided to attempt the shot and BOOM! the deer ran into the woods, and curved back out towards the clearing, by this time I have another shell in, and BOOM! BOOM! the deer looked like it was limping, and headed back into the thick stuff, I thought I saw it again so one more BOOM! My dad comes back and we head down the hill, I was SURE I killed it, and NO blood :bash: :bash: we searched for about three hours, nothing. This is the first deer I have ever missed, so I headed back the camp that night frustrated, and disappointed. Also that day my uncle found were the deer were all crossing over a ridge back and forth from their bedding area, to where they feed(which we never did figure out) But anyway, he did see alot of deer up there including a nice 4 point. MONDAY: WE decide to go to the area my uncle found all the deer in, he sets up down the ridge, and my and my dad head up the ridge a few hundred yards, right away we see a doe crossing above us, so me move up farther, and my dad saw a deer moving up high, so I move about 50 yds, and set up on a log, (praying the whole time for it to be a 3 point) Where I am looking is up the hill about 130 yds. and there is a ton of thick crap to the left, about 10 ft. of open, 10 ft. of thick, then 8 ft. of open, then thick stuff, I see the legs walking from Left to right, it steps into the first clearing, and I see a rack, but it was walking fast, almost right away its into the 10 ft. of thick stuff, and it stops, its butt sticking out, then walks out into the next opening and its a two point, then my dad says "i see another deer" Now i was at a different angle than him, and not more than a second after he says that, I see the deer, a fork, and a third point, all in that time i shoot, right away it drops, and gets back up and runs into the thicker stuff were I cant see, all the way up we see deer moving around near were I shot it, which we now assume was the two point. Any way, I killed it, my first buck, forth deer, (i have had lots of doe tags) Now i am hooked on buck, and I LOVE the feeling of buck fever. heres some pics. Sorry the story was so long... ;)
