2 for me Turner89 helped me out with my first bear!

1 for me. Seen lots of them, just don't look to hard for them. I've seen probably over 50 over here in 12 years within 15 miles of my house.
-
2 counting the one I'm going to shoot this year.
-
I'd like to add this to mine....both that I have shot at have been killed and recovered. That is something I'm more proud of than the fact that I've killed a couple.

Just the one in my pic

well i know it has been a few more than 5 thats for sure, the problem with killin bears is there is only so much you can do with bear hides and it gets real expensive, so i havent hunted bear in years, i really do miss baiting though, especially watch cubs keep mama bear on her toes, it was always a hell of a show :chuckle:

That's my dream right there, I grizz in Alaska with my bow  I still remember the story and I am still jealous :chuckle: :chuckle:

-
Been on four successful hunts, but none in Washington yet.

Good call!

24 here. My son is at 14.many more guided in for others. Dry the last 2 years tho.. Funny when you run a gun store how little time you have during hunting seasons..will change that this year tho!! :-)
-
I've taken one just last year and my husband has taken one in 2001 after I passed on it. ( I did run allllllll the way down the hill and got the gun and hiked aaaaaallll the way back up before deciding not to shoot it.)
-
I wonder how many will post opening day bear kills, there he was just sitting in the clear cut... Definetly wasn't eating a doughnut when I shot him.... :chuckle:. Just had to say it, it amazes me how many bears are killed just sitting in a clear cut opening day.
-
3 for me
-
0 for me but after my brief self taught experience on how to glass for bears I am hooked. Spotted 2 different bears on two different hills 30 mins apart... (the first year i don't buy a bear tag i spot my first two bears...) My partner thought I was bs-ing him when I spotted the second one :IBCOOL:

3, 2 over bait at our cabin in Ontario and one with the bow in OR while elk hunting.

:yike:
I couldnt afford that. :'(
MY bear hunts pay for themselves :dunno: I dont need bear hides or mounts..I sell the hides to taxis and make my own sausage..its the cheapest animal I hunt

People give me a hard time about that. How about you? But in our younger days who realized it was that out of the ordinary :dunno:
I know exactly how many I've missed! :bash: One in Idaho with the bow while elk hunting and four in Washington with the a rifle. One that kills me was an almost white blonde at 150 yards. Haunts my dreams still to this day. I know two other people that missed that same bear. Maybe it was a ghost!
Pretty sure my first one was a bow kill in '81 because my oldest brother wasn't around to help out as he had just started college. If I were to guess I'd say between 18 and 20 with the bow. Probably just shy of double that with a gun. I do know for certain only two with a pistol - one with the TC Contender and another with a 45. Finished off a couple more for clients with the 45. Also know my client total when guiding was 21 bear for 23 hunters. Wife's total I think is six with one monster about 450#.
Always wanted to go to Maine and try pit hunting with a spear, but I never made it for that season. One of my bigger regrets as I had a couple invites in the late 80's. Can't for the life of me remember what excuse I had for not going >:(
Never hunted bear using hounds. I might have to do that one of these days. I think it would be nice to have at least experienced it once.

7 for me. 4 with hounds 3 without. Been on close to 200 successful bear hunts with hounds prior to 96. Still haven't shot a cinnamon yet. Let 9 walk last year before shooting mine last year. 6 of them were a set of a sow and 2 cubs but the other 3 just werent very heavy and really want a cinnamon. Took last years out of wynochie area great area for you bear hunters looking for a good spot to get your first bear.
-
Been a part of 35 or so bear harvests with friends, myself or Dad. I will end up with 2-3 more this year

None for me... Yet, I'm going after work today and I can't wait. My hunting partner and I have been putting in a lot of scouting time so hopefully the work pays off.

I've notched 11 bear tags. I honestly don't even get that excited with bears. I have more fun watching them.

:yeah: :yeah: thats why i miss baiting so much, nothin funnier than watch a couple cubs at the site. its amazing that they ever grow up with the stuff they put mama through :chuckle: and the facial expressions that olser bears make will make you piss your shorts its so funny :chuckle:
-
2 for me. One with a rifle and another with my bow. Both were shot at about 15 yards.
-
11 so far for me. 1 in SE Alaska, 1 in Idaho, 2 in Oregon and the rest in WA. Called in 4 of them, shot 3 of them with my 45 Colt revolver. 7 taken in the spring. Love bear hunting.
-
I think I am at 13. 12 black and 1 Grizz
-
Only killed 3. All well over 300# Don't have anymore space on the wall or desire to ever kill another, unless that elusive 130# true blonde appears, then I will finally get my rug. I have just as much fun videoing 40-50 each year during the season.
-
1 with smoke pole and 2 with rifle
-
Just 1, 300lb cinnamon! Shot him right from camp listening to the seahawks game, it was pretty crazy!
-
I'd like to see a pic and hear that story.
-

You could of had matching 300# cinnamons had you wanted to pull the trigger while I was videoing :.......just leave em alone, they'll get bigger :chuckle:
-
:) four so far two on the east coast and two over here in the west . looking forward to this season and hoping to make it # 5

-That was way cool how that bear was perched up on that rock! Sometimes the incounters are just as fun as notching the tag! Especially when there at the bottom of a canyon! :chuckle:

Exactly...ZERO. Doesn't stop me from trying. Work seems to get in the way. I had spoken with Dale last year about heading out that way for his non-guided hunt and when he found out who I was and my success rate he suggested next year! :chuckle: :o :dunno:
-
0 - this will be year 3 of hunting for 'em.
-
Just 1 for me but it was a biggy 6'6" base of skull to tail and 6'4" across the shoulders paw to paw
-
I finally shot one this year with a spring permit. I have seen many bear over the years deer and elk hunting. Just never wanted one till now.

:chuckle: Well, you can feel good that you are not the first and for sure won't be the last to choke when a bear appears. And it could be worse! You could be that client of mine that went chasing after the elk with only a single bullet in his hand leaving the gun to shoot it out of in the truck ;)

0 ...Ive carried a tag just in case for years and only spotted one bear in that time. But, this year...I'm excited to say I have a trip planned to specifically hunt for this animal!
